New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano says it was a family decision to leave agent Scott Boras and instead be represented by rapper Jay-Z's new sports company
Cano says he's known Jay-Z since he was a rookie in 2005 and that he made the decision last weekend.
Cano says his focus is firmly on the field and that he doesn't intend to talk anymore about the switch. The Yankees hosted the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.
The three-time All-Star has a $15 million salary this year in the final season of what became a $57 million, six-year deal. He can become a free agent after the World Series.
