The Oakland A's announced a flurry of roster moves Sunday, including right-handed pitcher Brandon McCarthy's return to the 15-day disabled list with strained shoulder. The A's also recalled right-hander Evan Scribner and selected right-hander A.J. Griffin from Class AAA Sacramento. They optioned infielder Eric Sogard and designated Danny Farquhar for assignment to make room for Griffin on the 40-man roster. McCarthy, who is 6-3 with a 2.54 ERA, is making his second trip to the DL this season after suffering the same injury to his right shoulder. He has pitched once since the last DL stay, throwing seven shutout innings against the Los Angeles Angels on June 8. Griffin, who has played at Sacramento and Class AA Midland this season, has a combined 6-3 record and a 2.66 ERA in 15 minor-league starts.
