Jon Garland made his bones with the Chicago White Sox, but his former club wasn’t in a very nostalgic mood. The Pale Hose socked Garland for seven runs, and the starter could not escape the fourth inning in the Dodgers’ 9-2 loss. The Sox had eleven hits in the 3.2 innings Garland threw, including a two-run homer off the bat of Alex Rios. Chicago went a collective 6-for-17 with RISP against LA pitching.

Meanwhile, the offense could not muster anything against Mark Beuhrle. Juan Castro had two hits, James Loney hit a double, and Matt Kemp drove in a run. However, Jerry Sands drew most of the attention, thanks to the first home run of his career. Sands hit a cutter into the left field stands for the first of hopefully many taters.

Hiroki Kuroda will try to win the rubber game of the three-game interleague series for Los Angeles. The ChiSox will counter with former-Dodger Edwin Jackson.
