Thanks to Brandon Beachy’s trip to the disabled list the Atlanta Braves are giving Jair Jurrjens a second chance. Jurrjens was demoted to Triple-A Gwinnett early in the season due to his dreadful performances. While Jurrjens hasn’t been to successful down there either the Braves are hoping his All-Star history shows up again in the teams time of need.
“He’s made some progress,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. “His velocity has been up there. There’s some separation there with his change-up, so we’re going to give him a shot. He’s been an All-Star; he has the experience. Give him an opportunity again. I’m curious when he comes back to see how he pitches.” (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
In my opinion, that doesn’t sound like a manager is to sure of the decision. If the team truly believed he was ready that quote would have been much more glowing not mentioning his All-Star history and that he’s curious to see how he does.
So why the uncertainty?
Well at the time of his demot

Brandon’s Elbow Hurts Like A Son Of A Beachy
Brandon Beachy left Saturday’s start with a sore elbow. Usually when pitchers have a sore elbow it means one of two things. One, they’re going on the DL for a long period of time. Or two, they’re going to say they’re going on the DL for only 15 days but it will be a long time. Yeah, those are kinda the same things, but it adds a little flare when I break them up into...
