Zack Greinke’s deal with the Dodgers will come to about $24.5 million dollars annually. According to sources, the Los Angeles Dodgers are about to ink a deal with the most sought after free-agent pitcher this year, Zack Greinke. Greinke, 29, has reportedly agreed to sign a 6 year, $147 million contract.  If those figures pan out, it would make him the second highest paid pitcher in baseball history. The Yankees signed C.C. Sabathia to a 7 year, $161 million contract in 2009.  Greinke’s annual salary breaks down to about $24.5 million per season. The Dodgers will enter spring training with a rotation headed up by two former Cy Young award winners. Greinke won the award in 2009 and Clayton Kershaw took home the honor in 2011. This signing will no doubt help Kershaw’s bid for a long term deal. Kershaw signed a three year, $19 million deal after the 2011 season. He becomes arbitration eligible in 2014 and a free agent in 2015. Josh Beckett will most likely be tabbed the number three starter since both Chad Billingsley and Ted Lilly are coming back from serious injuries. Billingsley may yet still be facing Tommy John surgery for an inflamed elbow. Lilly had an injured shoulder. The remaining starters are Chris Capuano and Aaron Harang. The Dodgers are expected to move at least one of them after Greinke is officially signed. Greinke’s contract means the  Dodgers payroll for 2013 could be as high as $220 million.
