The last thing the Los Angeles Dodgers need is another injured player on their roster, but Carl Crawford was almost the latest addition to that deep list Thursday. Crawford made a catch sliding into the left field wall after Los Angeles Angels third baseman Alberto Callaspo pulled one down the line into foul territory. Crawford came up limping after the hard crash, and seemed to be favoring his elbow and wrist. “That wall don’t give,” Crawford said after the game to the Los Angeles Times. The crash had to be a concerning sight for manager Don Mattingly, who just recently added outfielder Matt Kemp to the 15-day disabled list due to a strained hamstring. Crawford told the media after the game that no injury resulted from the catch, just that he was a little sore afterward. “Pretty much my whole body,” he said of where he was hurting. “I mean, something like that it’s not just one spot. You run into a wall, so you’re pretty much going to have aches and pains all over.” The 31-year-old outfielder missed most of the 2012 season after undergoing wrist and elbow surgery, but has been a pleasant surprise for Dodgers faithful this year as Kemp and right-fielder Andre Ethier have gotten off to slow starts. Crawford is hitting .293 on the season and leads the team in runs scored with 31. Even though the struggling Dodgers went home with a 3-2 loss to the Angels Thursday, the play of the former Gold Glove winner so far has to be encouraging.
