Found April 09, 2013 on The Daily Sports Herald:
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw has been named National League Player of the Week after his two lights out performances to start the season. At a time when the Dodgers' bats have struggled to find consistency, Kershaw, the team's ace, has at least done his part to shut down the opposition, going 2-0 in two starts and not allowing a single earned run in a Major League-high 16.0 innings of work. His 0.00 ERA ranked tied for first among Major League starters. Kershaw even contributed offensively on Opening Day when he blasted a game-winning, eighth-inning homer in addition to throwing an efficient 94-pitch complete-game shutout in LA's 4-0 victory over rival San Francisco. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Kershaw became just the second pitcher in Major League history to hit a home run and throw a shutout in his team’s season opener. Cleveland Indians hurler Bob Lemon first accomplished the feat in 1953. In his second start Saturday agai...

Los Angeles Dodgers do some spring cleaning

The Los Angeles Dodgers not only did some sweeping this weekend but they re-organized the garage as well. Coming off a weekend sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates, GM Ned Colletti made good on a few off season promises. The Dodgers are counting on Ramon Hernandez to be the veteran they need to back up AJ Ellis. Last winter, Colletti said that obtaining a veteran back-up catcher for A...

Dodgers rumors: Clayton Kershaw negotiations over $200 million

Many around the league expect Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw to become the first pitcher to receive a $200 million guaranteed contract. According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, this will certainly happen, as he hears negotiations between Kershaw and the Dodgers have already surpassed the $200 million mark. Heyman notes that Kershaw is everything a team...

Kershaw named NL Player of the Week

Clayton Kershaw is enjoying a red-hot start to the 2013 campaign, and for his efforts he was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday. Kershaw is 2-0 after two starts, and has yet to give up an earned run in a MLB-high 16 innings pitched. On Opening Day against the defending champion Giants, legendary Dodger Sandy Koufax threw out the first pitch, but it was Kershaw...

Clayton Kershaw’s price may be going up, deal not imminent

Clayton Kershaw‘s extension has been widely anticipated by Dodgers fans for a while now, and most (including me) seem to want it done as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as if that’s necessarily going to be the case. A week ago, Dylan Hernandez said nothing was imminent: Clayton Kershaw’s agent was at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, but a new deal between the...

Game Five Summary: Dodgers 1 – Pirates 0

When Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers, one can almost pencil in a win for them – even if their offense is struggling like has been the case of late. In his second start of the season, Kershaw is off to a sensational start. After pitching a two-hit, complete game shutout in his season debut against the defending world champion San Francisco Giants, Kershaw...

Hyun-Jin Ryu, Clayton Kershaw and Matt Kemp win the Internet this week

We all knew it was coming, and it's finally here. This is probably the greatest thing on the Internet, at least until the next big cat video hits YouTube. Your browser does not support iframes. Hyun-Jin Ryu, Clayton Kershaw and Matt Kemp put on quite a show. I just wish the video clip was a little longer. What I'm wondering is, how did Steve Ames end up winning...

Fan Interview and Game Day Experience from Dodgers vs. Pirates, April 6th, 2013

A great night for baseball at Dodger Stadium last night.  Kershaw was dealing, Carl Crawford provided the spark, and the Dodgers won 1-0 on a clear April night.  The temperature wasn’t too hot, nor was it too cold.  And the Right Field Pavilion was serving up all the hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and peanuts you could eat! April 6th, 2013 in Los Angeles was, indeed, a beautiful...

Game 5 Recap: Kershaw, Crawford, and the Truth: Dodgers 1, Pirates 0.

Another beautiful night at Dodger Stadium, great weather, a great crowd of about 40,000 on hand for Saturday night baseball, and Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the Dodgers against Pittsburgh Pirates Ace A.J. Burnett.  I settled into my seat in the Right Field Pavillion around 5:30 P.M. with my Dodger Dogs, my peanuts and a Coke with Aaron (who I wrote about in a blog earlier this...

Hyun Jin Ryu does “Gangnam Style”, Matt Kemp has air sex, Clayton Kershaw is at a rodeo
