Dylan Hernandez has a couple of updates for us this evening. Hernandez says that the Dodgers are done shopping for position players and are now looking to fix up the bullpen, brace yourselves folks. Colletti is still working on putting Mike MacDougal back in the Dodgers 2012 bullpen. Yeah, yeah we have known this for weeks. It's inevitable, I am actually not sure why it's taking Colletti so long to give MacDougal a backloaded two-year deal. MacDougal has been around the league now for eleven seasons and is a proven major leaguer. In 2011 the right-hander posted a 2.05 ERA with 6.5 K/9, a 4.6 BB/9, and a 60.9% ground ball rate in 57 innings. MacDougal had a phenomenal ground ball rate in 2011, ranking tenth out of all major league pitchers with 50 innings pitched. Hernandez is also tweeting that just 24 hours removed from non-tendering Hong-Chih Kuo, Ned Colletti has already begun talks about a potential deal with the Dodgers former left-hander. Colletti said that a big...

Ned Colletti, Value, Prospects, and A Complete Disconnect

Value is a funny thing. We debate it when it comes to major awards like Most Valuable Player, and often infer it from team accomplishments when trying to assess the contributions of an individual. The one thing I believe we can all agree on, however, when it comes to value, is that Ned Colletti has no conception of it.None whatsoever. The man has proven that to be true time and time...

As Expected Dodgers Non-Tender Kuo

The Dodgers have announced that they will not offer Hong-Chih Kuo a contact this winter. Kuo was expected to make at least $2MM in 2012. After five elbow surgeries and an anxiety disorder the Dodgers decided they are better off without the once dominant lefty. Hard to argue. I fully expect that Scott Elbert will take over as the primary lefty out of the 'pen this season.

Oh Now Ned Colletti Wants Coco Crisp

Let me take you on a journey through time, a journey where Ned Colletti is the worst GM in all of baseball. There I said it. Seriously this guy takes all the fun out of it. After all just two days ago Dylan Hernandez heard from ol' Ned that he was done looking for position players. But ah, wait a tick, what's this I hear? The Dodgers are interested in Coco Crisp? Finally...

The Los Angeles Dodgers non tender Hong-Chih Kuo

The Dodgers have decided not to tender a contract for the 2012 season to 30-year old lefty reliever Hong-Chih Kuo, making him a free agent. Kuo was awful last year for the Dodgers. He pitched in 40 games (0 starts) for the Dodgers last year and he was 1-2 with a 9.00 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP. Kuo pitched in 218 games (14 starts) in his seven years with the Dodgers and he was 13-17...

Mets Offseason Targets: LHP Hong-Chinh Kuo

I had a chance to check out all the players that were recently non tendered on Tuesday night and came up with a list of players that would seem like good potential targets for the Mets as the offseason wears on. Of course none of these players come without flaws or they wouldn’t have been non-tendered to begin with, but I spotted a few that could fill certain roles for the...

Los Angeles Dodgers Tender To Kershaw, Ethier, and Loney But Not Kuo

On December 12th, the Los Angeles Dodgers tendered contracts to a trio of arbitration eligible players: Clayton Kershaw, Andre Ethier, and James Loney. However, they elected to not tender a contract to Hong Chih Kuo. The other two arbitration eligible players, Matt Kemp and Tony Gwynn Jr., were signed to extensions earlier. —– According to MLB Trade Rumors, the projected...

Saunders, Kuo, Scott join ranks of MLB free agents

Former All-Star pitchers Joe Saunders and Hong-Chih Kuo, and Baltimore outfielder Luke Scott became free agents Tuesday after their teams declined to offer 2012 contracts.

Angels Sign Kendrys Morales, $3M/1 Year, Other Transactions

Per the Times, the Angels signed Kendrys Morales to a $3M/1 year deal. The Brewers have signed former Cub Aramis Ramirez worth $36M over three years with a fourth year mutual option. The Cards re-signed Rafael Furcal to a one year deal worth $14M. The Dodgers non-tendered Hong-Chih Kuo, though the team is interested in re-signing him. The Dodgers did tender contracts to Andre Ethier...

Dodgers Eyeing MacDougal, Kuo

The Dodgers are done shopping for position players and are now looking for a reliever, according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times (all Twitter links). The team continues to talk to free agent right-hander Mike MacDougal and has potential interest in left-hander Hong-Chih Kuo. The Dodgers non-tendered Kuo last night, partly since they aren’t sure if he’s interested in...
