We are less than 12 hours away from when teams have to submit arbitration offers to players. The Padres have two on the line in Heath Bell and Aaron Harang. And I love when I wake up to find so many stories pop up over night. Today is going to be a large post so without further ado here are your links for today:   Padres first trade of the offseason came yesterday - Padres Official "In a move to add a left-handed bat and depth at the catching position, the Padres dealt left-handed pitcher Wade LeBlanc to the Marlins for catcher John Baker on Tuesday." Padres Trail talks more on the trade and how they predicted it would happen "Wade LeBlanc will likely not be long remembered.  He was, however, a useful piece of the puzzle for the last 4 seasons, be it as a long reliever, a spot starter, or a regular starter due to injury.  If he becomes a mainstay in the Marlin rotation I would be the first one in line to congratulate him on his success." Wade LeBlanc and Line Drives

Just to illustrate how slim news is about Major League Baseball around Thanksgiving, this writer finds himself writing about John Baker and Wade LeBlanc. The catcher and pitcher (respectively) were swapped in a deal between the San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins yesterday. Baker was an effective offensive player for the Marlins in 2008 and 2009 but scored weakly on defense as far...

Marlins acquire LeBlanc from Padres for Baker

Wade LeBlanc likes how the Miami Marlins' new uniforms look. He hopes to be wearing one next April. The Marlins acquired the left-hander from the San Diego Padres on Tuesday for catcher John Baker. LeBlanc went 5-6 with a 4.63 ERA for the Padres last season, winning three of his last four decisions and hoping that strong finish carries over into spring training when he'll...

Miami Marlins Acquire Wade LeBlanc from Padres for John Baker

The Miami Marlins acquired Wade LeBlanc from the San Diego Padres on Tuesday for catcher John Baker. Why? Well apparently, the Marlins needed a lefty and the Padres could use another catcher. Everybody's happy for now. LeBlanc went 5-6 with a 4.63 ERA for the Padres last season, sucking for most of 2011 and spending some time with Triple-A Tuscon until winning three of...

Padres offer arbitration to Bell, Harang

The Padres opted to offer free agent pitcher Heath Bell and Aaron Harang arbitration. The deadline for teams to offer salary arbitration to ranked free agents was Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Padres offer arbitration to Bell, Harang (AP)

The San Diego Padres have offered salary arbitration to All-Star closer Heath Bell and right-hander Aaron Harang. New general manager Josh Byrnes says the move was predictable. If the players decline, the Padres will receive compensatory draft picks. Byrnes says it's unlikely the players will accept arbitration, but the team will prepare for either scenario.

Marlins deal Baker to Padres for LHP LeBlanc

MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami Marlins acquired left-hander Wade LeBlanc from the San Diego Padres on Tuesday for catcher John Baker. LeBlanc went 5-6 with a 4.63 ERA for the Padres last season, winning three of his last four decisions. In parts of four seasons with the Padres, LeBlanc went 17-22 with a 4.54 ERA, starting 52 times and coming in as a reliever twice. Baker was limited to...

Padres trade LHP LeBlanc to Marlins for Baker

MIAMI (AP) -- Wade LeBlanc likes how the Miami Marlins' new uniforms look. He hopes to be wearing one next April.

Miami Marlins get pitcher Wade LeBlanc in trade

The trade doesn’t qualify as the kind of big splash the Marlins are hoping to make. But in dealing catcher John Baker to the San Diego Padres on Tuesday for left-handed starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc, the Marlins sought to rectify one of their glaring shortcomings — a lack of upper-level pitching depth within the organization.

Padres Get Better End Of Baker-LeBlanc Swap

The Marlins and Padres managed to sneak in a little one-for-one trade just before the Thanksgiving holiday, with catcher John Baker heading to San Diego in exchange for left-handed pitcher Wade LeBlanc. As you know, the Padres were simply horrendous on offense in 2011. Among the 30 clubs, they ranked 29th in AVG (.237), 28th in OBP (.305), 29th in SLG (.349), 30th in ISO (.112),...
