Found December 27, 2012 on Friarhood:
There is a large looming question when it comes to the offseason: What do you write about when there is nothing to write about? Most teams don’t have this problem as there is always something going on to make news. In the case of the Padres, there isn’t a whole lot going on. Luckily, all I have been tasked to do is find articles and give them to you all. However, if I just put a list of news articles it would be pretty boring, at least that is what I think. So that is why I try to spice things up a bit with my opening paragraph every morning. That then becomes a problem because I like to talk about something relevant that will spike some interest, but when there is nothing to talk about I am sitting here thinking okay what next. So I try to fit enough words in here to make it so that it looks interesting, and I think I have hit that word quota. Yasmani Grandal's 50-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball's drug policy has given Nick Hundley the opportunity to relaunch his catching career. It was Hundley's terrible 2012 that triggered Grandal's sooner-than-expected promotion to the San Diego Padres. Grandal made the most of his chance. Why Moving the Fences at Petco Makes Sense

Petco Fences 12/1/12 – Photo posted by Tom Garfinkel via twitter The time has finally arrived.  The Padres have seen the light and are moving in the fences for 2013 and beyond.  It’s really a shame that it has taken this long to get to this point, but I give a lot of credit to Josh Bynres and AJ Hinch for making the move. The park was built when guys were juicing and if baseball...

Yet another quiet day here in sunny San Diego. I am just holding out to get to January where I think the Padres will be making a few moves to help solidify a roster by the time spring training comes along. Historically the Padres have done a lot of moves in January and even into February, so it will be interesting to see how things play out. Last year was a bit different as trades...

Daily Friar 12.26.12

I hope that you all had a Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday spending time with friends and family. As expected the news was very quiet the past few days, which is why I took the couple of days off since it wouldn’t be much of anything. Today seems to be official announcement day for most teams as they are announcing moves that happened before Christmas. Among the official...
