A few days removed from the Rizzo trade and we are still seeing some responses and backlash coming in from all angles. I personally don’t think we can really see how this trade is going to pan out until we get into the season and see how each player performs. As of right now it’s all speculation and we won’t know for sure. It will be fun to see though. Here are your links for the day:

The Rizzo trade is broken down by player – Through The Fence Baseball
“The Padres received fair value for the #2 ranking internal first baseman on their depth chart. Having said that, continuously dealing away top tier talent for players who may or may not fit PETCO Park is extremely reckless, in my opinion.”
Bill Center held a weekly chat with the fans – signonsandiego.com
On Orlando Hudson:
“I think you might see some subtle changes in Orlando Hudson this year. The fact that the Padres wanted to move him and no...

This frown’s not turning upside down
The San Diego Padres made an unsurprising move on Friday. They sent first baseman Anthony Rizzo and pitcher Zach Cates to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for pitcher Andrew Cashner and outfielder Kyung-Min Na. Much of the initial reaction to the trade is negative from the Padres’ perspective. Here are my thoughts (obviously).

Josh Byrnes: Gunslinger??
Since assuming leadership of the San Diego Padres on October 26, 2011 there has been a lot of activity crossing the desk of new GM Josh Byrnes. 19 Reasons Why A Losing Padres Season Became Bearable
The 2011 Padres season, one in which the home team finished 20 games below .500, was difficult on each and every one of our faithful community. But despite the losses exceeding the wins in by a wide margin, reflection has provided me with much needed perspective. In many ways the 2011 season was akin to Star Wars: The Phantom Menace . . .Hindsight tells us that the Phantom Menace...
Daily Friar 1.9.12
It appears that we can put one chapter of the Padres storied history behind us. As one of the articles below will tell you all, the sale from John Moores to Jeff Moorad is nearly complete. This is good news seeing as we can all move on from this and Moorad can put his money to the team. Especially once the television deal becomes complete and we get the money due to us from that...
