There are some enticing pieces to share with you all today. Padres have claimed a new pitcher, who has some decent stuff (just not the greatest numbers). Also we have more news on which television companies will be carrying Padres games (spoiler alert: Time Warner is still out). Also we have a disgruntled fan taking to social media, some questions that need to be answered, and a look at why Cameron Maybin needs to have a big year. Okay, so it’s Thursday and that means that FanFest is two days away. I have said before that it is a fun time for all, and I hope that you do have fun if you go as well. I have been the past two years, and I hate to say it that this year I will not be attending. I unfortunately have a family thing I have to go to instead. Remember that Steve Adler will be hosting a Friarhood meetup on the field by second base at 11:45, so be sure to stop by for the group photo and say hello. That’s all I have for today, so enjoy the articles:

Padres claim righty Fautino De Los Santos from the Brewers – Padres.com
“De Los Santos didn’t pitch in the Major Leagues for the Brewers but compiled a 2-3 record and a 5.80 ERA in 49 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level in the A’s and Brewers system.”
Time Warner is the lone holdout as Dish agrees to carry Padres games – Union Tribune
“The Padres are hoping the dispute between Fox and Time Warner will be resolved before Opening Day. But a statement released late Wednesday by Time Warner didn’t seem to indicate a deal was any closer than it was a year ago.”
Armed with damning documentary, one Padres fan takes on the club – CBS Sports
“A smart man with a deft talent for navigating the digital age, Marver has spent his spare time over the past few years collecting and bookmarking video and sound bites in which various Padres officials send one truth after another through the spin cycle.”
Pressing Questions: San Diego Padres - Yahoo
“Outside Huston Street, Headley and shortstop Everth Cabrera, who is a strong candidate for another 40-plus steals, this is a club that offers little excitement from a fantasy perspective.”
Will the real Cameron Maybin please stand up? – Rant Sports
“There isn’t a whole lot of doubt that the potential is there for another breakout season, but the Padres should know who the real Cameron Maybin is by the end of the season.”

In one of the most interesting signings of the winter, the Washington
Nationals have signed Micah Owings to a minor league contract, with an
invitation to major league camp. Owings missed most of 2012 with an elbow
injury, but his projected comeback from that procedure is not what makes this
deal different. Despite sporting a lifetime won-lost record of 32-33,
Dan Szymborski’s ZiPS projections, which have typically appeared in the pages of Baseball Think Factory, are being released at FanGraphs this year. Below are the projections for the San Diego Padres. Szymborski can be found on Twitter at @DSzymborski.

Fox Sports San Diego has been busy lately and today is probably going to be the biggest splash. FSSD has announced three new members of the team. As part of the 78% of the county that doesn’t subscribe to Time Warner (because I’m not a Dodger lover), I enjoy the TV side of things. That still doesn’t change my stance on bringing back Matt Vasgersian though (SANTA MARIA...
Curt Schilling never mentioned Jed Hoyer or Theo Epstein when making his bold claims on Thursday, but Hoyer decided to clear the air before fingers start getting pointed.
Schilling claimed during an appearance on ESPN Radio on Wednesday that he had been approached about using PEDs while recovering from an injury by someone working for the Red Sox in 2008. Schilling said those who...
If you are attending Padres Fanfest this weekend you are in for a ton of fun, but it doesn’t stop there. Death, taxes, and Mike Rizzo signing a player he drafted with the Diamondbacks to a minor league deal.
This time, it's Micah Owings, who converted from pitcher to position player last season. Now Owings has an invitation to big league camp with the Nats.
Just based on the video above, in which Owings walked Jayson Werth with the bases loaded in a game in San Diego last April...
Jim Bowden had an article at ESPN talking about how the San Diego Padres should trade Chase Headley right now. In the article he listed the Pittsburgh Pirates as one of two teams with a moderate chance of landing Headley, noting that a package of Gregory Polanco and Alen Hanson could get the deal done.
Bowden does a lot of these types of articles. He takes a player who isn’t necessarily...
