PLAYERS: David Wright
TEAMS: New York Mets
Chalk up another long-term commitment for New York Mets star David Wright. It was just a month ago that the third baseman officially signed an eight-year, $138 million contract extension with the club — essentially turning him into a Met for life. On Sunday, Wright announced he was engaged to his longtime girlfriend, model Molly Beers, turning this offseason into a pretty busy one for the Mets star. No wedding date has been set, yet. The good-looking couple was seen together at Wright's fundraiser in Virginia on Friday while he hosted Vegas Night to benefit Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Wright and Beers have been dating for years and their relationship first became public when Wright threw her a birthday bash over the All-Star break in 2008. Now that he has put an engagement ring on his beautiful fiance's finger, fans are hoping he can help put a championship ring on his own.

MMO Featured Post: Why You Should Watch The Mets This Season

With less than thirty days before pitchers and catchers report to Port St. Lucie for Spring Training there is little excitement for the upcoming season.  Bad baseball may be better than no baseball, but 2013 appears to be another year of tempered expectations for most Mets fans.  As a result, ticket sales and television ratings will likely take yet another hit, but should they...

How Much Money Will Mets Make For The All Star Game?

I always wanted to know exactly what if any revenue the Mets would rake in because of the All Star Game. It looks like I got my answer today. While the event will rake in revenue of a hundred million dollars or more in sponsorships, advertising and merchandising, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com says this: How much of the revenue that the Mets will get from hosting the All-Star Game will...

Johan Santana will not be on hand tonight at the annual B.A.T. Dinner to receive his award. Santana was being honored for his financial support and generosity to the organization. He sent out the following statement this morning, that he would not be able to attend. “I was deeply honored to receive such a prestigious award from B.A.T.  B.A.T is a cause I’ve long supported since...

What Spring Training Battles Will We See In Mets Camp?

Pitchers and Catchers report in 22 days. Only three more weeks until until all of our players proclaim they are in the best shapes of their life. What do you think will be some of the more interesting battles in Mets camp this spring? XtreemIcon – If the current roster goes to Spring Training, I’d say the 5th starter job, though the Mets keep saying they’ll bring someone in...

In a weekend dominated by playoff football, Mets avoid arbitration with Ike Davis

It’s another weekend where most sports fans will have their eyes on the NFL Conference Championship games, but for the Mets faithful, besides enjoying some Free NFL Playoff Picks, there was good news regarding first basemen Ike Davis (who was also apparently enjoying the NFL playoffs). #bbpBox_293097489165328384 a { text-decoration:none; color:#0084B4; }#bbpBox_293097489165328384...

Mets' Lucas Duda Hitting Off a Tee

The Mets are seeing some encouraging progress in Lucas Duda's recovery from offseason wrist surgery.  He began hitting off a tee Friday and will continue to progress to the point of taking batting practice soon.  He says things are going smooth, and the Mets couldn't be happier. According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, Duda will travel to the Mets' spring training...

How The Mets Built Their First Championship Team – Part 1

Turn Back The Clock 45 Years – It’s the Spring of 1968. Spring training of 1968 saw the Mets coming off another last place finish but with a few glimmers of hope for the future. There was a new manager in Gil Hodges and a new center fielder in former  A.L. Rookie of The Year Tommie Agee who came to the Mets in a deal for their best hitter, Tommy Davis. Tom Seaver had a brilliant...

Why aren't the Mets grabbing some of these MiLB

I've said all along I don't expect the Mets to be involved in the big name free agents like Michael Bourn and I don't really blame them for that, Bourn at this point a move like that really makes very little sense. The Mets are rebuilding, spending on a big piece really isn't making them a contender this year and wont be around long enough to be part of the winning...

Mets bring back Pedro Feliciano on minor league deal

The New York Mets have reunited with former reliever Pedro Feliciano, signing the lefty to a minor league contract and offering an invite to Spring Training. #bbpBox_293414488839950336 a { text-decoration:none; color:#0084B4; }#bbpBox_293414488839950336 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } The #Mets have signed LHP Pedro Feliciano to a minor league contract with an invitation...

Feliciano back to Mets

After collecting $8 million over two years from the Yankees without ever throwing a pitch, lefty-reliever Pedro Feliciano is heading back to the crosstown rival Mets. Feliciano, 36, inked a minor league deal to return to Queens and the only team he’s ever played for. After becoming a free agent at season’s end, the Yankees never offered him a contract. Feliciano came over to...

Mets bring back Feliciano, settle with Ike Davis

Left-hander Pedro Feliciano is returning to the New York Mets, who also settled their salary arbitration case with first baseman Ike Davis. The Mets said Monday that Feliciano had agreed to a minor league contract after two injury-plagued seasons across town with the Yankees. The 36-year-old left-hander never pitched in a game for the Yankees, spending two years of the disabled...

Mets Re-Sign Pedro Feliciano To Minors Deal

The New York Mets announced this morning that they have signed former Met Pedro Feliciano to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training. Here on MMO last week, we brought up the idea of the Mets bringing back Feliciano. The 36-year old Feliciano led the majors in games pitched from 2008-2010 making 266 appearances all as a Met. He has held lefties to a career...

Mets Could Be In On Michael Bourn If Price Comes Down

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe says this morning that “the Mets are not out of the picture if the price and length of commitment come down” on free agent outfielder Michael Bourn. As you can read below, I don’t see Bourn and the Mets as a match for the reasons I specified, chief among them being that it would cost the Mets their first round pick. Original Post 1/15 I don’t...
