MLB Injury News:
The Los Angeles Dodgers held outfielder Andre Ethier out of
yesterday’s finale against the Atlanta Braves due to a sore right foot, and
manager Don Mattingly said that the ailment could keep him out of Monday’s
series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Austin Laymance of MLB.com.
"He was unavailable," manager Don Mattingly said
after Sunday's game. "He tried to swing early in the day and wasn't able
to do it. I don't know where we'll be [Monday] with that. He just hasn't been
as consistent as we're used to seeing out of him and I know that concerns him,
and concerns us also," Mattingly said. "We're trying to get him back
to his old self."
Ethier was still feeling the effects of fouling a pitch off
his foot on Saturday night. He limped out of the clubhouse following that
contest, and the injury is severe enough that he’s questionable to suit up
It’s been a tough start to the season for Ethier. The
31-year-old has struggled to the tune of a .229/.316/.348 batting line with 10
doubles, one triple and four home runs over 228 plate appearances.
Beyond Ethier, the Dodgers are also without outfielders Matt Kemp and Carl Crawford. As a result, rookie Scott Van Slyke was hitting
cleanup, while Luis Cruz was hitting in the No. 3 hole.

The Dodgers recalled former first-round pick Chris Withrow on Tuesday to help a beleaguered bullpen.
Withrow was drafted with the 20th pick in the 2007 MLB Draft out of Midland Christian High School in Texas.
The Dodgers moved Withrow to the bullpen halfway through last season, and he's fared much better as a reliever than he was as a starter.

The Los Angeles Dodgers gave actor Hank Azaria the privilege of announcing the team's staring lineup for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Azaria used the opportunity to have a little fun by presenting the Dodgers lineup to the crowd while using the voice of convenience store clerk Apu from the animated television show "The Simpsons".

On Monday night, what looked to be a 3-1 Los Angeles Dodgers victory quickly dissolved in the ninth inning due to Brandon League‘s inability to nail down the save, turning a probable victory into a 5-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Kris Medlen hit a solo homer and pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday night, 2-1. The Los Angeles Dodgers are not coming back. I might not be the first to say it, but it seems taboo to even admit the season is lost yet. The injuries are too much to overcome, and every time the team seems poised to get healthy, something else goes wrong. Yesterday, Matt Kemp suffered a setback in his rehab and is not ready for a minor league assignment.

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost an 8-1 snoozer to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon. LA fell behind early and stayed there, which resulted in the legendary Tommy Lasorda losing interest in the game. On this episode of "Dugout Blues," Jared Massey (Dodger Diamond) talk about the Dodgers' first pick of the 2013 MLB Draft in Chris Anderson.
We began recording about the No. 12 pick and give you instant reaction, despite it not being live. I agonize about the possibility of J.P. Crawford reaching No. 18, only to have him go to the Phillies at No. 16. We also have...
