The Los Angeles Dodgers held Andre Ethier out of last night’s contest due to a sore left knee, but the outfielder said that he would play today, according to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. Ethier sustained the injury last Friday when he collided with fellow outfielder Yasiel Puig while tracking a fly ball. Manager Don Mattingly thought Ethier needed a day off after playing through the discomfort during Wednesday’s doubleheader and Thursday. "The knee has a little swelling and we've asked a lot of him," said Mattingly, who pressed Ethier into center-field duty with Matt Kemp sidelined. "He needs a day. He and Puig ran together in Pittsburgh and he hit the wall, but I don't know if that was necessarily it." Ethier has gotten off to a slow start this season, hitting .254/.335/.377 with 12 doubles and five home runs over 266 plate appearances. With Ethier sidelined, the Dodgers used Skip Schumaker in center field while Elian Herrera was in left.  Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?

Dodgers set to pay a penalty on draft signings, but won’t lose 2014 pick

The Dodgers are set to pay a financial penalty for going over their draft bonus pool limit, but won’t have to pay the severe penalty of losing a 2014 draft pick. There was legit reason to worry, as our own Dustin Nosler pointed out, because the team was in questionable territory with the bonuses of J.D. Underwood, Kyle Farmer, and Nick Keener to go. ===== Dodgers 2013 Draft Recap...

Los Angeles Dodgers, Clayton Kershaw Fall Once Again

Clayton Kershaw equaled his season high giving up four earned runs Friday night in the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 loss to the San Diego Padres.
