MLB Injury News:
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley appeared
in a minor league spring training contest yesterday, and he is ready to be part
of the team’s rotation – potentially in the first week of the regular season – according
to Eric Stephen of SB Nation.
The Dodgers don’t need a fifth starter until the 11th
game of the year, but Stephen notes that Billingsley could be worked into the
rotation earlier than that. The right-hander will be on the disabled list until
April 6 due to a fingernail injury he sustained while attempting to bunt during
an exhibition contest.
Billingsley threw 96 pitches against the Milwaukee Brewers’
Triple-A club yesterday, mixing in his curveball and not allowing a run over
his first six innings.
Billingsley was limited to 25 starts last season due to a
partial tear of his UCL ligament. Over 149 2/3 innings, the 28-year-old
maintained an ERA of 3.55 with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 2.84.

After months of speculation of a long term extension getting done between the Dodgers and their ace Clayton Kershaw, it appears that the two sides are close to a record setting deal. The Dodgers have been working out a deal with the former Cy Young winner over the past several days according to Dylan Hernandez. It’s fair to assume that the deal could be announced sometime today...
My Dodgers prospects pre-season rankings for 2013 are here, but it’s a bit of a short and sweet version.
I was planning on re-starting Prospect Profiles again this year, but unfortunately, I got busy and ran out of time.
However, since I still have the information I’ve gathered through watching the games and what not, I think what I’ll do is just release scouting...
This hasn't been the greatest month for Zack Greinke leading up to the start of the 2013 season, but Saturday night was the most encouraging sight from him since he signed his mega contract in the winter.
Greinke made his final spring training start on Saturday against Angels and fared pretty well. It was just his second start in the last 29 days, so it's understandable...
The Los Angeles Dodgers are showing off a $100 million renovation at Dodger Stadium that includes new video boards and revamped clubhouses.
The Dodgers start the season Monday at home against the World Series champion San Francisco Giants. Dodger Stadium opened in 1962.
The massive makeover was done in five months and enlarged the locker rooms for both the Dodgers and the visiting...
The light distortion not withstanding, the new hi-def scoreboards were amazing.
“Remember when.” It is a common phrase we’ve all used before.
Sometimes, you say it to recall the good old days at work before you got a new boss whose job seems to be making your life miserable. Or you could be a Kansas City Royals fans recalling when the word “playoffs” was part of the vocabulary...
Clayton Kershaw is the best pitcher in major league baseball not named Justin Verlander. He is also five years younger and is currently playing for the new biggest spenders in baseball, the LA Dodgers. I don’t have to spout off Kershaw’s stats and accomplishments at such a young age. If you’re reading this blog you probably know that Kershaw is one of the league’s...
It has been a billion-dollar makeover. The Dodgers have emerged from bankruptcy and the dark days of the McCourt ownership transformed into one of...
LOS ANGELES Its not a problem for me at all, Dodger manager Don Mattingly replied when asked about the fact that team management has decided for now not to give him a contract extension heading into the 2013 season. This is the final year of the deal he signed to replace Joe Torre after the legendary manager retired in 2010.
On Monday against the World Champion San Francisco...
A.J. Ellis hit a grand slam against Jason Vargas for his first homer of the spring, Luis Cruz doubled home two runs and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Angels 9-8 Friday night in their next-to-last game of spring training.
Josh Beckett threw 80 pitches over four innings to get the win despite giving up seven runs on nine hits, including a three-run homer by Mike Trout and a two...
LA Dodgers: The Dodgers went to great lengths to reel in Zack Greinke (SP). Unless his elbow problems escalate, draft him with confidence.
SD Padres: The Padres had a quiet winter.
Arizona Diamondbacks: Martin Prado (OF) has always hit for a good avg. and had modest power, but what impressed people last season was his newfound speed. Prado is a good mid to late-round option if you...
