Andre Ethier made a spectacular catch in the eighth inning to save the tying-run from scoring and to secure a 4-3 win for the Los Angeles Dodgers over the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. With a runner on first base and two outs, Ethier smashed into the right center field wall to take away an extra base hit from Brandon Allen, preserving a 4-3 lead the Dodgers (79-54) had taken over the D-Backs (60-73) the previous inning on a bases loaded walk to Ethier. The run was setup by a Juan Pierre pinch-hit walk, followed by a double from Rafael Furcal and an intentional walk to Matt Kemp before Leo Rosales issued the free pass to Ethier for the go-ahead run. Although Ethier stole the headlines with his jaw-dropping catch, Kemp went 2-for-3 and put the club in a position to win the game by showcasing his diverse offensive game early in the contest.
