This year, the Los Angeles Dodgers thought outside the box. On Sunday, a lucky fan won the opportunity for the Dodgers’ iconic play-by-play man Vin Scully to record his or her voice mail message. Vin Scully is revered as one of the all-time great broadcasters in any sport.
Scully has been calling Dodgers games since 1950 (when they were in Brooklyn) and has often worked without a color commentator because, frankly, he doesn’t need one. Scully, 85, has covered three perfect games, 25 no-hitters, 25 World Series, six Dodgers World Series championships, 12 All-Star Games and has fun facts about Braves second baseman Dan Uggla.
