Memories Of Kevin Malone:
As we edge closer and closer to Opening Day, the Dodgers have much roster shuffling left to do. They must figure out how to fit all the players they want onto their 25-man and 40-man rosters, and shopping players like Hu and Stults is a part of that.
While Belisario figures to not start the season with the Dodgers, that should only be temporary, so Wade is the only one who will likely be off the 40-man roster for a while due to arm surgery. So that leaves Dodgers at 38 players and room for two.
Players not on the 40-man roster include Josh Lindblom, Ramon Ortiz, Russ Ortiz, Jeff Weaver, Doug Mientkiewicz, Nick Green, and Garret Anderson. Therefore, if the Dodgers want to keep three or four of those players on the roster, somebody currently on the 40-man has to go. In a way, it's disturbing that the Dodgers may actually keep three guys from that list.
*I can understand the desire to keep Lindblom, but this roster situation is why he's a long shot to make the team or get called up without a trade.*
As far as the trade rumor goes, I can't imagine Stults or Hu having that much value at the moment. I know there are rumors about Chad Gaudin out there, but I can't imagine why the Yankees would want Stults or Hu, nor do I think Gaudin would be much better than Stults as the fifth starter. Heck, he might not even be better than Ramon at this point. Dealing Hu is even more puzzling, as the Dodgers need a backup shortstop, and I don't think Carroll can do the job. All in all, it doesn't make too much sense to me.

Officials from NL and AL clubs tell me the Dodgers are shopping Eric Stults and Chin-lung Hu.As it currently stands, I believe there are 39 players on the 40-man roster, including Stults, Hu, Ronald Belisario, Carlos Monasterios, Cory Wade and Jason Repko.
