MLB Injury News:
Los Angeles Dodgers' outfielder Matt Kemp is progressing very slowly in his recovery from a sprained left ankle he sustained on July 21. Since he has yet to be able to run or swing a bat, he will need a significant amount of time to get into playing shape.
As reported by Ken Gurnick, of MLB.com,
"Kemp, still wearing a restrictive walking boot most of the time, resumed
playing catch with medical director Stan Conte and, barring another
setback, will resume other baseball activities next week when the team
is in St. Louis."
"""I just think it was a lot worse than we were hoping, when we thought it
would just be a couple of days," said manager Don Mattingly, who
initially was told the injury didn't appear to be severe. "He got it
It has been a nightmarish season for Kemp, who has been on the disabled list three times. He has played in only 62 games this season and is batting .263 with 5 home runs and 27 runs batted in. Kemp, a two time All-Star and two time Gold Glove Award winner, has a career batting average of .293 with 156 home runs and 553 runs batted in.

The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a four game sweep of the Chicago Cubs with a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon. The Dodgers are now 31-7 in their last 38 games, have a franchise-best streak of 14 consecutive road wins, and have increased their lead in the NL West division to 5 1/2 games over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Heading into the series with the Cubs, the Dodgers had made the...

Has anyone made so many ridiculous catches in such a short span of time as Yasiel Puig? It seems like the Los Angeles Dodgers rookie right fielder tacks one or two grabs onto his highlight reel every game.
Even when the catch doesn't count as an out, Puig makes it interesting — like this one at Wrigley Field.
After initially ruling this catch an out, the umpires conferred...
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly pushed Zack Greinke's scheduled start back to Monday, saying he wanted to keep his starting pitchers fresh and rested.
Mattingly, who hinted on Saturday that he might make this move, also kept Yasiel Puig out of the lineup because the outfielder has a hurt left thumb. Stephen Fife will start Sunday against the Cubs.
The move will also give Dodgers...
Los Angeles Dodgers' right fielder Yasiel Puig left Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs with a contusion near the base of his left thumb.
As reported by Ken Gurnick of MLB.com,
"Puig was injured making a diving catch in right field on Starlin
Castro's line drive in the bottom of the seventh inning, his glove
hitting the ground and rolling over as...
If you have the opportunity to see Yasiel Puig play, pay the money, because you’re likely to see something special. Friday night’s Puig highlight was a diving catch, as he was coming in and to his left and robbed Chicago Cubs IF Darwin Barney of a sure hit. What I want you to watch is the economy of steps. By the time the camera catches Puig who got a great jump, he makes...
ST. LOUIS -- If you don't recognize the Dodgers who show up at Busch Stadium this week, it's understandable.
They hardly resemble the team that lost two of three to the Cardinals at Dodger Stadium in late May. Those Dodgers were mired in last place and their manager, Don Mattingly, was dealing with questions about his job security.
Yasiel Puig still was in the minors,...
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Hanley Ramirez is hoping to avoid a possible third disabled list-stint of the season after jamming his shoulder during Sunday’s game against the Chicago Cubs. During a pop-up in the seventh inning, Ramirez had to run all the way into foul territory by the brick wall, that separated seated fans from the field, in order to attempt to record the out. He...
Your browser does not support iframes. Yasiel Puig plays as hard as one can, and the all-out approach often puts his body in jeopardy. On Saturday against the Chicago Cubs, the phenom hurt his thumb making a diving catch in the right-center gap. Puig laid out to rob Starlin Castro of a hit in the [...]
The St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers are starting a four-game set on Monday night at Busch Stadium and both teams comes into the set as two of the best teams in the National League thanks to two very stellar pitching staffs.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are led at the front of their staff with two studs in Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke and have a solid rookie in Hyun-Jin...
