LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated shortstop Dee Gordon from the 60-day disabled list and recalled right-handed pitcher Stephen Fife and infielderoutfielder Elian Herrera from Triple-A Albuquerque. To make room for Gordon on the 40-man roster, the club placed infielder Adam Kennedy on the 60-day disabled list with a strained right groin. Gordon tore the UCL in his right thumb sliding into third base on July 4 vs. Cincinnati and has missed the last 57 games. The 24-year-old speedster led the Major Leagues with 30 stolen bases at the time of his injury and on the season is hitting .229 with 36 runs scored in 78 games. In eight rehab games for Albuquerque, Gordon hit .267 (8-for-30) with a triple and two steals. This will mark Herreras third stint with Los Angeles and the native of the Dominican Republic is hitting .244 with a homer and 16 RBI in 53 games. Herrera has made 41 starts at third base (14), second base (9), center field (9), left field (7) and right fi...

Clayton hopes to return and start on Tuesday. —– Kenley Jansen, barring any unforeseen setback, will pitch again this season before undergoing offseason surgery on his heart. He... Read More »

Dee Gordon activated from disabled list, not returning to starting lineup yet

The Dodgers have activated Dee Gordon from the disabled list and recalled him back to the Dodgers roster, but not as a starter. To make room for Gordon on the roster, the Dodgers moved Adam Kennedy to the 60-day disabled list, removing him from the 40-man roster. Dee Gordon, who has been shelved with a thumb injury for about 8 weeks returns to action, but with Hanley Ramirez cemented...

New Los Angeles Dodgers looking worse than the old ones

In a movie called “Twice in a Lifetime,” Gene Hackman plays a blue collar worker in Seattle who is a diehard Seahawks fan.  There is a scene where he is watching the Mariners, who were very bad in the 80’s when the film was made, on TV, and his son says “these guys can’t get their act together.”  At which point Hackman’s character says “ahh, football season will...

D-backs finish season domination of Dodgers

PHOENIX If the Diamondbacks had played the rest of the league like they played the Los Angeles Dodgers this season, the NL wild card race would be a lot wilder than it is right now. It might even be a fall-back position. The series has been that lopsided. The D-backs have pushed the Dodgers around this season, both the older and more expensive versions, and Wednesday was no different...

Kennedy battles banged-up Dodgers

While the banged-up Los Angeles Dodgers surely could have used Clayton Kershaw in their last game, they're hoping he - and Matt Kemp - are both good to go Tuesday night. Kershaw is penciled in to start the opener of this two-game set between the Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks, who will be trying to avoid losing seven in a row at home for the first time in six seasons. Scheduled...

In Honor Of Clayton Kershaw Upcoming Start, Here’s His 49 MPH Pitch From His Last Start

I can’t remember who, but somebody requested this of me before I went through all the site layout updating stuff, so here it is. I’m going to play it off like he was trying to beat Randy Wolf and Zack Greinke in the troll curve competition.

A GIF Representation Of My Thoughts On A-Gon’s Backwards K, With Help From Trauma Dog

Yesterday, with the Dodgers down by one run and the tying run on second in the top of the ninth, Adrian Gonzalez struck out … because of course. It unfortunately reminded me of Carlos Beltran‘s infamous at-bat against Adam Wainwright in the NLCS, though obviously nowhere near as dramatic. With the help of who I... Read More »

Prime Nine: Los Angeles Dodgers

The new ownership group is throwing around money like Monty Brewster from Brewster’s Millions. Unfortunately, I dated myself with that reference, but no one could make us laugh quite like Richard Pryor. In this case of the Dodgers, it is Magic Johnson, Stan Kasten, and a host of others that are leaving no dime left unspent. That spending has helped the farm system...

Dodgers Owner Peter Guber Right To Preach Patience, But They Traded To “Send Signals”?

Dodgers owner Peter Guber encouraged fans to keep the optimism because the trade with the Red Sox was for more than just this season, which is indeed the rational thing to recognize. However, what the hell did he mean by saying they did it to “send signals”? “It’s not fair to judge anything for almost... Read More »

Dodgers-Diamondbacks Preview

Kershaw matches Kennedy, but Dodgers fall

PHOENIX (AP) -- Ian Kennedy pitched neatly into the eighth inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks used an unearned run to beat Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0 on Tuesday night. Arizona left fielder Jason Kubel robbed Luis Cruz of a two-run homer with a leaping grab at the wall to end the fifth inning. The lone run came in the seventh, when Paul Goldschmidt reached...

Missed opportunities cost Dodgers vs. D-backs

PHOENIX (AP) -- Justin Upton and Gerardo Parra hit consecutive RBI singles to support Trevor Cahill's seven strong innings, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Wednesday night. The Dodgers, losers of six of their past seven, squandered a chance to pull even with St. Louis for the second NL wild-card spot. The Cardinals lost 3-2 to San Diego earlier...

Cardinals-Dodgers Preview

Despite struggling of late, both the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers remain in good position to claim the second wild-card berth in the NL. With a one-game lead over the Dodgers for that spot, the Cardinals look to avoid a fourth straight loss overall and fifth consecutive defeat at Chavez Ravine on Thursday night. Hoping for the chance to defend its World Series title...
