The Dodgers Are Smart and Stupid at the Same Time, Locking Up Kemp But Adding Ellis
Hooray! The Dodgers are going to sign superstar Matt Kemp to an eight-year, $160 million contract extension!!!
Booo! The Dodgers just gave middle-aged infielder Mark Ellis a two-year deal worth around $9 million!!!
Oh, you silly Dodgers, your decision making is so befuddling paradoxical. How can one team be so smart and yet so stupid at the same time. I mean that literally,...
A Swell Sweet Spot Signature From Clayton Kershaw!
This sweet spot signed ball comes courtesy of Steiner Sports Memorabilia. It was on sale for an awesomely ridiculous price, a truly great discount I could not pass up. It normally sold, at the time of purchase, for 90 bucks. I picked it up for thirty big ones. I absolutely love that Clayton inscribed his number. Good. Stuff. It was a fantastic deal I took advantage of months and months...
Los Angeles Dodgers: McCourt’s $160 Million Going Away Gift?
Dodgers owner Frank McCourt (left) and Matt Kemp attend the opening of a new little league field in Compton, CA. Kemp remained silent about reports he was ready to sign an 8 year, $160 million deal with the team.
Frank McCourt may have been a terrible owner but he is turning into quite the apologist. Ever since he lost his battle with Bud Selig to retain control of the Dodgers, McCourt...
Dream come true for Kershaw
Even with a little fuzz on his face, Clayton Kershaw still looks like a kid off a Texas farm. He has unkempt hair and an "aw shucks" smile, but he'd be the first person you'd think of if a little old lady needed help crossing the street.
He's that kind of guy sweet and self-effacing when he's not trying to throw a 95-mph fastball past Prince Fielder. But...

His 21 victories were eight more than his previous career high and matched Arizona's Ian Kennedy for the most in the National League. Kershaw also led the league with a 2.28 ERA and 248 strikeouts.

The offseason as a Pirate fan
I wrote this about last weekend's Jamey Carroll Sweepstakes over at the Outside Corner. I'm planning on making my winter posts over there part of a recurring theme: the winter is a rough time to be the fan of any team except for a few of baseball's biggest spenders.
NL West Links: Rockies, Oswalt, Dodgers
The latest out of the National League West..
Rockies General Manager Dan O'Dowd is after a "No. 3 or No. 4" pitcher, writes Troy Renck of The Denver Post. The team's search has led them to talks with Roy Oswalt, and the team is being aggressive in their pursuit, according to several agents and executives, Renck tweets.
