The Los Angeles Dodgers appear open to moving outfielder Andre Ethier, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports. He adds that if they are able to move Ethier, they could end up pursuing Nich Swisher. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Dodgers have zero interest in trading Ethier but will listen to offers for him. Teams that have not scored that power bat they were looking for (Texas) or teams that are not able to attract free agents (Seattle) are the ones that will try to persuade the Dodgers to trade him. Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports notes that Ethier will be the Dodgers Opening Day starter unless they are blown away by an offer for him. Rumors surfaced in late October that the Dodgers were open to moving Ethier. Those rumors were quickly shot down by the team by have again reared its ugly head. The team and Ethier reached a five-year $85 million extension back in June. Ethier hit .284/.351/.460 with 20 home runs, but had a career high in strikeouts with 124 (not a career high in at bats). He owns a Silver Slugger (2009) and Glove Glove (2011). If the Dodgers do intend on jumping into the Swisher mix, they will have to move quickly, as the Indians are pushing hard to sign him. Swisher hit .272/.364/.473 with 24 home runs and 93 RBIs for the Yankees last season. The Yankees made a qualifying to Swisher so whichever team signs him will lose their first round draft pick.
