The Los Angeles Dodgers have shown a near endless supply of money this season when it comes to signing players. That trend does not appear to be slowing down as they look to sign Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez.
While the Dodgers are among a handful of teams interested in the right hander they seem certain to offer the most money. Peter Gammons reports that the Dodgers are willing to give Gonzalez a contract worth $50 million over the next five years.
GM:"Word is Dodgers will go five years, close to $50M on (Cuban) Miguel Gonzalez. If so, he'll be a Dodger.:

Gonzalez recently left Cuba and was declared a free agent by Major League Baseball. Other teams with known interest are the Braves, Cubs, Yankees, Blue Jays, Twins, Marlins, Red Sox and Rangers.
The fastball of Gonzalez can reach 96 mph but he typically works in the 90-94 mph range. Scouts suggest that Gonzalez is major league ready now but how much of an impact he would have this season is debatable.

When the Los Angeles Dodgers gave Matt Kemp an eight year, $160 million contract extension in November of 2011, most thought it was a solid investment. Two seasons later the team has to be wondering if it grossly overpaid. It’s not because of his play, but because he’s not on the

Los Angeles Dodgers rookie Yasiel Puig has taken MLB by storm this summer. In a sport that lacks a true “poster child,” Puig might just develop into that. And Puig could become that definitive superstar sooner rather than later.
