Third baseman Juan Uribe is one of three Los Angeles Dodgers starters currently sidelined due to injury, and his left wrist ailment is one that potentially could keep on the disabled list longer than the minimum 15 days.

Uribe had an MRI exam Tuesday that showed a left wrist sprain. When the Dodgers return to Los Angeles this weekend, he will see a hand specialist to determine the best course of action.

"We feel like we'll be able to rest this thing and it will get better," manager Don Mattingly said. "If it doesn't, there are other steps we have to take."

There is a chance Uribe could return reasonably close to when he is eligible to be activated, May 29. However, there is a chance he might need surgery, an option that has not yet been dismissed by the training staff.

"Nothing has been ruled out. We want to let him see the hand specialist," trainer Sue Falsone said.

Uribe has hit .250 with a .302 on-base percentage, a .338 slugging percentage, one home run and 10 RBI in 25 games. For now, with backup Jerry Hairston Jr. also on the disabled list, the Dodgers are using a combination of Justin Sellers, Adam Kennedy and Elian Herrera at third base.

Kennedy started at third Wednesday and went 0-for-3 in the Dodgers' 4-2 loss at San Diego.
