Cliff Lee finally got his first win of the year on Wedneday...but it wasn't easy at all. The Mets took a 2-0 lead into the seventh, and there was potential for another winless Lee today. Chase Utley hit a two-run homer in the seventh to tie the game, Carlos Ruiz hit a go-ahead solo homer, and Lee was still pitching. Then, the Phillies offense went ape. The team scored six in the eighth and ninth, capped off by a two-run Ty Wigginton homer in the ninth inning to finish off a 9-2 Phillies win, and get Lee his first win of the season. Welp...at least we don't have to deal with dicussions about on how Cliff Lee doesn't know how to win.
Game of the Night: White Sox 5, Rangers 4 (ten innings). The Rangers got three runs in the first inning, and an intrepid national writer said something along the lines of "welp, looks like the Rangers might put 19 on the White Sox tonight!" Of course, Chicago scored four runs in the second and took a 4-3 lead, lasting unt...
BEST OF MAXIM
It’s about damn time.
Cliff Lee finally (finally!) got his first victory of the season, striking out nine over eight innings in the Phillies 9-2 win.
Chase Utley and Carlos Ruiz hit back to back homers in the seventh. Ty Wigginton also went yard.
But this was about Cliff and his first win.
Even with the victory, the Phillies remain 12 out in the east. You’ve gotta be happy...
On the day that celebrates our nation's Deceleration of Independence, Cliff Lee finally won his first game of the 2012 season, thus shaking the shackles that bind him. Congrats Cliff! You and your teammates should pop some bubbly in the clubhouse, because you won't be doing it in October.
Cliff Lee and the Philadelphia Phillies can breathe easier. Lee won for the first time since last September and the Phillies stopped a six-game losing streak with a 9-2 victory over the New York Mets in a matinee Independence Day game at Citi Field. Lee held New York to two runs on seven hits in eight innings; he struck out nine and walked one. "Today was hot and he did...
This season has been an excellent case study in valuing hitters over pitchers on draft day. None of the most consistent starters for the past three to five seasons have been themselves. Cliff Lee is one of those starters. Lee has already missed some time due to an oblique problem back in April and aside from that has been cheated in run support from the powerless Phillies. He has...
Cliff Lee finally got his first win of the 2012 MLB season against the New York Mets. After the victory teammates Cole Hamels and Roy Halladay gave Lee a nice Gatorade bath.
Watch the video below:
Cliff Lee of the Philadelphia Phillies is among the best pitchers in the majors. What west coast hurlers are in that group? The Apocalyptic Horsemen Stats are in my daily coverage.

I am alternating a game-day 2012 ERA For The NL East and a 2012 ERA For The MLB 5. See link section below. In each publication, the number after the title will...
Cliff Lee took a Gatorade bath at the hands of Cole Hamels and Roy Halladay after notching his first win in 14 starts this season.
It’s over now. And it’s been a long time coming.
Cliff Lee, who has been both the victim and the perpetrator this season has finally won his 1st game of the season. More importantly, he helped the Phillies end a 6-game skid AND looked a lot like the...
Happy July 4th!!!
Did Cliff Lee win a game yet? Is he hurt?
It is basically the story of the first half. We all know that Cliff Lee has not been the Lee we saw last season. Phillies have been 7-1 since 2004 on July 4th including two walk offs against the Mets.
Cliff Lee and Chris Young were throwing zeros until the fourth inning. Scott Hairston put the Mets ahead with a solo...

Once again, Cliff Lee is looking for his first victory. There...
The Phillies are 10 games under .500 for the first time since June of 2002. Damn. There's not much to say besides the Phillies need a freaking miracle to head to the postseason, but if they keep playing this way they may just have to give up and become sellers. After being destroyed by the Mets last night, the Phillies will look to snap their six-game losing streak with Cliff...

By Dave BuscemaThe Sports Xchange NEW YORK -- For six innings, it looked like the Philadelphia Phillies would face another humbling step backward and ace Cliff Lee would continue to turn heads around the league by remaining winless. But Chase Utley continued to prove he's getting healthier and helped give the Phillies a chance to do the same. Utley's one-out homer in...
