Cliff Lee finally got his first win of the year on Wedneday...but it wasn't easy at all. The Mets took a 2-0 lead into the seventh, and there was potential for another winless Lee today. Chase Utley hit a two-run homer in the seventh to tie the game, Carlos Ruiz hit a go-ahead solo homer, and Lee was still pitching. Then, the Phillies offense went ape. The team scored six in the eighth and ninth, capped off by a two-run Ty Wigginton homer in the ninth inning to finish off a 9-2 Phillies win, and get Lee his first win of the season. Welp...at least we don't have to deal with dicussions about on how Cliff Lee doesn't know how to win.

Game of the Night: White Sox 5, Rangers 4 (ten innings). The Rangers got three runs in the first inning, and an intrepid national writer said something along the lines of "welp, looks like the Rangers might put 19 on the White Sox tonight!" Of course, Chicago scored four runs in the second and took a 4-3 lead, lasting until Texas tied the game in the third on a solo homer by Josh Hamilton. And then....nothing. The game remained scoreless until the tenth, when Alejandro de Aza led the inning off with a walk, and then stole second. That set the stage for Kevin Youkilis, who hit a walk-off single to left after a nine pitch at bat to give the White Sox a nice comeback win, and their second win in a row over the powerful Rangers.

Pitching Lines of the Night: Justin Verlander threw a complete game against the Twins in Detroit's 5-1 win, allowing one run on four hits, wakling one and striking out seven. How about Chris Tillman of the Orioles in his first start of the season? He went 8 1/3, allowing just two unearned runs on two hits, walking two and striking out seven in Baltimore's 4-2 win. Aaron Harang allowed one run on three hits over seven to the Reds, walking one and striking out five in LA's 4-1 win. David Price's Rays fell 4-3 to the Yankees, but Price was great. He went seven and allowed one run on four hits, walking two and striking out eight. Blue Jays spot starter Carlos Villanueva had a great outing in Toronto's 4-1 win over Kansas City, throwing six scoreless innings and allowing four hits, no walks, and striking out seven.

Hitting Lines of the Night: Miguel Cabrera had a complete game for the Tigers, going 3/3 with three runs, three RBI, a walk, a double, and a pair of homers. The Giants lost to the Nationals 9-4, but Pablo Sandoval went 3/4 with three RBI and a homer. On the other side of the field, Ryan Zimmerman went 2/5 with two runs, three RBI, a double, and a homer. Brandon Moss haunted his former team again in Oakland's 3-2 win over Boston, going 3/4 with two runs, a double, and a homer.

Other Games: The Indians obliterated the Angels 12-3, as Ervin Santana got rocked yet again. The Pirates beat the Astros 6-4, and are now in sole possession of first place in the NL Central. The Marlins once again went to extras with the Brewers, but prevailed this time, winning 7-6 in ten innings. The Cubs hit three homers, and beat the skidding Braves 5-1. The Cardinals beat the Rockies 4-1. Yasmani Grandal homered AGAIN, and the Padres beat the Diamondbacks 8-6.

Today's Games: Only three day games today. What the hell? Mark Buerhle and Michael Fiers will duel in Milwaukee. Matt Harrison takes on Jose Quintana in Chicago as the White Sox look for a shocking sweep. Matt Cain takes on Ross Detwiler in Washington. Matt Garza starts in Atlanta for the Braves...potential audition, perhaps? Jake Arrieta and the Orioles travel to Los Angeles to take on the Angels and Garrett Richards. Cole Hamels and RA Dickey in New York is your matchup of the night. All-Stars Lance Lynn and Wade Miley both start at home, hosting the Rockies and Dodgers respectively. Mat Latos takes on Edinson Volquez in San Diego in the battle of dudes traded for each other.

Enjoy your day of baseball, everyone.
