TORONTO (AP) -- Mark Ellis hit a two-run homer to highlight Los Angeles' five-run 10th inning as the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 8-3 on Wednesday night to complete a three-game sweep. Yasiel Puig also went deep in the 10th for the streaking Dodgers, who have won six straight and 23 of 28 to go from last in the NL West on June 21 to first place. Los Angeles won its 10th straight road game, the franchise's longest streak since the Brooklyn Dodgers won their first 11 away from home in 1955. Brandon League (5-3) pitched two innings to beat his former team for the second straight game and Kenley Jansen finished for the Dodgers. Juan Perez (1-2) gave up all five runs and four hits in the 10th inning for Toronto. The Blue Jays were swept for the second straight series, and have lost a season-high seven consecutive games and 14 of 18. Toronto led 3-2 heading into the ninth before the Dodgers rallied against closer Casey Janssen. Puig drew a leadoff walk before Janssen s...

Yasiel Puig Dances In Dugout Then Gives Hyun-jin Ryu A Noogie

Yasiel Puig lets loose by cutting a rug in the dugout as his Dodgers were on the verge of a sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays. Puig does his best staying alive rendition before giving team-mate Hyun-jin Ryu a noogie. In an era black marked with steroid scandals, Puig is a breath of fresh air, what is not to love about the kid. The post Yasiel Puig Dances In Dugout Then Gives Hyun-jin...

Yasiel Puig Flashes The Leather North Of The Border

Baseball fans north of the border got to witness a Yasiel Puig web gem on Canadian turf last night . Puig robbed Toronto Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia of extra bases. Not a bad play for a guy who was starting only his second game in centre field at the major league level. Puig looks more and more like Bo Jackson with each and every play. The post Yasiel Puig Flashes The Leather...

Puig Being Puig: The Tale Of One Plate Apperance

Yasiel Puig has generated a lot of love, because he’s fun, and a lot of hate, because he’s fun (and he can be a dick), so he decided to summarize it all of us in one plate appearance tonight. Puig jumps for exercise. A relatively normal reaction from him. Umpire called it as Master Puig wanted it. I have no idea. Ball catches six inches of the outside corner and Puig runs...

Yasiel Puig is Rolling again, and the Dodgers are on Fire

The Dodgers were down to their final out tonight when Andre Ethier hit a sinking liner to center fielder Colby Rasmus. The ball skipped off the Toronto turf and rolled a ways, allowing Yasiel Puig to scamper home and tie the game at 3-3 off Blue Jays closer Casey Jannsen. The Dodgers would score five more runs in the top of the 10th inning to win the game 8-3. The crowning moment...

Puig shows love for Ryu with dance and a 'noogie' (VIDEO)

What better way to celebrate an five-run lead in the bottom of the tenth inning than doing a little boogie with a brotherly show of affection on your teammate —the infamous noogie. That's exactly what the Dodgers' Yasiel Puig did last night during the waning moments of a game against the Blue Jays. Puig did the dugout hip-shake then walks over to Hyun-Jin Ryu and gives...

Who Will Be Better Long Term: Wil Myers or Yasiel Puig?

Baseball’s infatuation with Los Angeles Dodgers’ outfielder Yasiel Puig almost hit John Madden / Brett Favre levels. Puig, a 22-year-old from Cuba, burst onto the scene when he hit .436 with a 1.180 OPS and seven home runs in June. His June was so fruitful that the import, who signed a seven-year, $42 million contract in 2012, was almost elected to the All-Star Game. Puig has...

Market shrinking for Gonzalez as Dodgers are out

Given the success of recent Cuban defectors Yasiel Puig and Yoenis Cespedes (and our boy Jose Iglesias!), there is increased focus on Cuban-born players. The most recent player of interest, starting pitcher Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez, has been pursued by seemingly every team in baseball, although the market is starting to focus a bit. The team rumored to be most aggressive on Gonzalez...
