Memories Of Kevin Malone:

As if giving a lesson to all the little boys out there watching the game, veterany Garret Anderson hit a bloop walkoff single to drive in Matt Kemp and win the game today. What was the lesson? Even if you suck at baseball, you can still be a hero.
By the way, we better get used to seeing him in Dodger Blue, because he's not going anywhere soon after today.

-I suppose the real story of this game was the performance of the pitching staff yet again. Carlos Monasterios looked great before Joe Torre pulled him, and the rest of the pen did their job, including getting four innings of shutout ball from Travis Schlichting, who was making his season debut with the Dodgers.
-As commenters and I noted, Schlichting's control is much improved from last year, perhaps at the cost of 1 mph or so. Seems like a worthy trade.
-George Sherill can't even get California League hitters out.
-Dodgers are looking at 15-year-old Luis Heredia, but if he's really demanding 2 million dollars, they aren't hitting him.
-James McDonald won't be back soon.
"It's a significant strain," Dodgers trainer Stan Conte said. "It's not a small one. We call it a Grade 2 out of a possible three. We'll just have to see how long it takes. We don't believe it's a matter of days. It's longer than that."Ugh.
