Friarhood:
If you are attending Padres Fanfest this weekend you are in for a ton of fun, but it doesn’t stop there. We at Friarhood wanted to have a little fun ourselves, so we set up a Friarhood Scavenger Hunt! This is all going to go down on twitter, so if you don’t have a twitter account, now is the time to get one. Make sure you follow @Friarhood (that’s us).
CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL LIST OF FRIARHOOD SCAVENGER HUNT TASKS
This is going to be very simple, you are going to try and accomplish as many of the tasks as possible. The first person to complete all the tasks and find me (Steve Adler) will win an autographed Penitentiary shirt (provided by American Icon Autographs). Most of the tasks will involve posting a picture of you on twitter completing tasks from around the park. For each task you complete, you will receive an entry. At the end of Saturday all entries will be compiled and winners will be randomly selected. Prizes will include:
Tickets to the Padres home opener
Chase Headley signed baseball (compliments of American Icon Autographs)
Friarhood Shirt
’78 All-Star Game 7-up bottle
Retro Padres hat (yellow and brown)
Padres beach towel
Lanyard from the 2011 All-Star Fanfest
When you tweet pictures you will need to include #FHSH and @Friarhood at the end of your tweets. We will be retweeting your tasks as they are tweeted. Just don’t forget that you need to be in the pictures. For those of you that will be representing in our new “98” shirts that are available in the Friarhood Shop, as promised I will have $5 cash for you on Saturday (only shirts purchased at the Friarhood Shop are eligible for the $5 cash rebate).
The scavenger hunt is made to be easy and fun. Complete the tasks, meet some cool people, and win some great prizes!

Nationals Add Micah Owings Bat in MInor Deal
In one of the most interesting signings of the winter, the Washington
Nationals have signed Micah Owings to a minor league contract, with an
invitation to major league camp. Owings missed most of 2012 with an elbow
injury, but his projected comeback from that procedure is not what makes this
deal different. Despite sporting a lifetime won-lost record of 32-33,
Owings is...
Daily Friar 2.7.13
There are some enticing pieces to share with you all today. Padres have claimed a new pitcher, who has some decent stuff (just not the greatest numbers). Also we have more news on which television companies will be carrying Padres games (spoiler alert: Time Warner is still out). Also we have a disgruntled fan taking to social media, some questions that need to be answered, and a...

FSSD Adds New On-Air Talent
Fox Sports San Diego has been busy lately and today is probably going to be the biggest splash. FSSD has announced three new members of the team. As part of the 78% of the county that doesn’t subscribe to Time Warner (because I’m not a Dodger lover), I enjoy the TV side of things. That still doesn’t change my stance on bringing back Matt Vasgersian though (SANTA MARIA...
Jed Hoyer Responds to Curt Schilling’s Claims, Says It’d Be ‘Preposterous’ to Think He or Theo Epstein Was Involved
Curt Schilling never mentioned Jed Hoyer or Theo Epstein when making his bold claims on Thursday, but Hoyer decided to clear the air before fingers start getting pointed.
Schilling claimed during an appearance on ESPN Radio on Wednesday that he had been approached about using PEDs while recovering from an injury by someone working for the Red Sox in 2008. Schilling said those who...
First Pitch: Would You Rather Have Polanco/Hanson or Chase Headley?
Jim Bowden had an article at ESPN talking about how the San Diego Padres should trade Chase Headley right now. In the article he listed the Pittsburgh Pirates as one of two teams with a moderate chance of landing Headley, noting that a package of Gregory Polanco and Alen Hanson could get the deal done.
Bowden does a lot of these types of articles. He takes a player who isn’t necessarily...

Death, taxes, and Mike Rizzo signing a player he drafted with the Diamondbacks to a minor league deal.
This time, it's Micah Owings, who converted from pitcher to position player last season. Now Owings has an invitation to big league camp with the Nats.
Just based on the video above, in which Owings walked Jayson Werth with the bases loaded in a game in San Diego last April...
