Found July 12, 2013 on BaySportsNet:
As the Giants’ 2013 season spirals rapidly out of control, it’s time to start wondering whether or not they should be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. On the one hand, there is still enough time left in the season to turn things around, and a key mid-season acquisition or two just might be what the team needs to get re-energized (uh, something other than Jeff Francoeur, that is). On the other hand, the team is currently nine games under .500 and has been an injury-riddled train wreck for much of the past month. Brian Sabean making desperation trades to salvage the season at this point might be akin to handing a box of bandaids to a guy who has been bitten in half by a shark. Even though the Giants, as reigning World Champs, might be in a state of denial on the issue of being sellers as the July trading deadline approaches, it’s probably sensible for the team to entertain any offer that comes along. For one thing, the players making up the core of the team (i.e. Buster Posey,...

Chad Gaudin charged with lewdness after allegedly groping woman in Las Vegas ER

So, Chad Gaudin had himself quite a night in Vegas earlier this year. The Giants pitcher is charged with open and gross lewdness, a misdemeanor, after he was arrested back in January for allegedly groping a woman in an ER lobby. It’s a story that’s just downright bizarre and creepy. Police say it all went down at 4:30 a.m. at the Desert Springs Hospital three miles off the...

Matt Cain says he's healthy after Giants pull him in first inning

The sight of the bullpen warming up is not something Matt Cain is used to in the first inning of a game, but that's exactly what happened on Wednesday night against the New York Mets. A short time later, following John Buck's two-run single, San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy pulled Cain for Mike Kickham after just 36 pitches. Cain told Tim Kawakami of the San Jose...

San Francisco Giants Option Mike Kickham To Fresno

The San Francisco Giants have optioned left-handed pitcher Mike Kickham to Triple-A Fresno. The young lefty did not make an appearance during his latest call up back on Tuesday. He rejoins Fresno’s rotation and should get another chance later in the summer to showcase his talents at the big league level. The post San Francisco Giants Option Mike Kickham To Fresno appeared first...

Should the Phillies Call the Giants About Pence?

Good series, let’s go call the Giants about Pence? Think back to your days in high school or college, to the girls or fellas that you dated. There were the ones that made you stay up at night, heart racing. You may have even written poetry or songs for them. Then, there was the moment that things got weird and you parted. You fell in love again, usually with someone new, married...

Police blotter: Vegas busts Gaudin

How do you top a home invasion by a gun-wielding, bulletproof vest-wearing Anna Benson in terms of sensationalism? You allegedly have a few too many drinks in Las Vegas and wander into a hospital. THE HANGOVER 4 San Francisco Giants righthander Chad Gaudin had a night to forget about - literally -- in January, but the police obviously remember. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports...

Giants 10, Padres 1

All-Star Buster Posey drove in a season-high five runs and Chad Gaudin and three relievers combined on a five-hitter, leading the San Francisco Giants to a 10-1 victory against the San Diego Padres on Friday night. Posey's two-run double highlighted San Francisco's five-run seventh inning, when Padres manager Bud Black was ejected for arguing an obstruction call during a...

Giants 4, Padres 2

Pablo Sandoval hit his first home run since May 21, and All-Star Madison Bumgarner settled down to allow just four hits in seven innings as the San Francisco Giants beat the San Diego Padres 4-2 Thursday night in a matchup of the worst teams in the weak NL West. The defending World Series champion Giants, who snapped a four-game losing streak, have been in a free-fall since June...

Division battle by the bay, Oakland vs Giants

Oakland fans have had to wait a long time for days like this. As anyone familiar with Bay Area baseball will surely know, the San Francisco Giants have won two out of the last three World Series Championships. For too long now Oakland fans have seen throngs of new Giants fans delivered by the week, but as Bob Dylan might say the times they are a changing. The Oakland Athletics have...

True Torture

Wait, the Giants won? Does that mean we’ve passed Rock Bottom? Actually, I didn’t ask that.  Don’t want to jinx anything.  Sorry, Baseball Gods!

Report: Red Sox Have ‘Checked in’ With Giants About Bullpen Arms in Case San Francisco Decides to Sell

If there’s one thing we’re learning a few weeks before the trade deadline, it’s that the Red Sox are fishing for bullpen help. Their excursion stems from coast to coast. According to FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi, the Red Sox and Tigers have checked in with the Giants about relievers in case San Francisco decides to sell. The Giants enter Thursday with a 40-50 record, and although...

Mets 7, Giants 2

Former Giants prospect Zack Wheeler pitched seven sharp innings, Marlon Byrd homered again and the New York Mets completed their first sweep in San Francisco since 1994 with a 7-2 win Wednesday. Daniel Murphy and John Buck each had two hits and drove in two runs as the Mets won their fourth in a row, including three straight over the slumping World Series champions. The Giants have...

Tigers Rumors: Detroit interested in Giants pitchers?

The San Francisco Giants, fresh off of a World Series title, have struggled mightily this year due to inconistencies in hitting, spotty starting pitching and injuries. They pretty much kept their World Series team intact, but have just fallen off track, due to those things. Since the Giants are struggling, could that make them potential sellers? It definitely could and they already...
