The Padres recently just added Willie Blair to the coaching staff. Now, I really don't have a "flair", but it is good to see the Padres keep ex-players in the coaching ranks. I also love the band Fountains of Wayne, so the announcemet, for some reason, made me think of their song "I've Got A Flair". Anyway, it also brings back fond memories of that great 1996 season as Blair was part of the dominating bullpen anchored by Trevor Hoffman. I think he will be a good fit to take over as bullpen coach. Welcome back to San Diego Willie!

Padres Acquire LHP Chris Rearick from the Tampa Bay Rays
According to Corey Brock via twitter, the Padres have acquired LHP Chris Rearick for utility INF Vince Belnome. Belnome a former teammate of Jedd Gyorko at West Virginia was known for his plate discipline, but with the logjam of infielders right now in the Padres system, he was unlikely to get a shot anytime soon.

Let me start off by apologizing for not having a Daily Friar for you all yesterday. Life tends to get in the way at times and thus this fell onto the back burner. Today is a new day and with it comes a new Daily Friar. It also continues the very quiet offseason that the Padres are having in that so many other teams are making headlines, and the Padres are still looking for that one...
Daily Friar 12.13.12

Torres was with the Giants for two years before being traded for Angel Pagan, but now he...
