The Seattle Mariners will be reworking their rotation to begin the second half of the season.

Just what form that revamping will take hasn't been completely determined.

Manager Eric Wedge said that Hisashi Iwakuma would move into the rotation after the break. He'll be taking the spot that had belonged to Hector Noesi.

"Iwakuma will start after the break," Wedge said before Kevin Millwood went out and threw seven shutout innings in a 4-1, 11-inning loss to the A's in Oakland, "but he'll be in the bullpen this weekend."

There isn't an exact day set for Iwakuma to start, because that will depend on whether the Mariners' lone All-Star, Felix Hernandez, pitches in the Al-Star Game on Tuesday.

Noesi is being asked to get his game back together at Class AAA Tacoma after an eight-game losing streak left him at 2-11 with a 5.77 ERA.

And while Wedge sees Erasmo Ramirez in the Seattle rotation long-term, for the moment, it seems that Ramirez, who is dealing with a right flexor bundle strain, is unlikely to be back from the disabled list in time to start the second half in the rotation.

One possibility to fill in is Blake Beavan. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 2.52 ERA in four starts for Tacoma since he was demoted from Seattle on June 13.

While Noesi would technically be eligible to return after the break to fill the need of a fifth starter, Wedge doesn't seem inclined to bring him back until the organization has seen some improvements.

"He has to just be more consistent, focus better from pitch to pitch and finish off hitters," Wedge said. "I'd like to see him have a little more intensity on the mound. With that will come the focus and having a purpose with every pitch and executing pitches. It's just being able to throw 100 pitches and get the most out of each and every one. I like his delivery, I like his stuff."
