Los Angeles Dodgers newly acquired pitcher Josh Beckett, was lit up in his debut by the first batter he faced, Tyler Colvin of the Colorado Rockies, as the Dodgers lost 10-0 on Monday night.

Colvin smashed a homer into the upper deck on an 0-1 fastball.

Beckett allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings.  He retired six batters in a row after Colvin's homer, but the Rockies got to him again in the fourth with one run scored and in the sixth with another run.

The Dodgers are now 2.5 games behind the Giants in the NL West.

Rockies pitcher Jeff Francis (5-4) got the win after throwing five scoreless innings.  The duel between Francis and Beckett was a rematch of Game 1 of the 2007 World Series between Boston and Colorado, Beckett and the Red Sox won that game 13-1.

Beckett is 0-5 in his last seven starts and 5-12 with a 5.21 ERA in 133 innings for the season.  He will make his home debut for the Dodgers on Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
