The Dodgers are concerned that the injured Chad Billingsley might not return this season, apparently explaining why the team remains in search of starting pitching even after acquiring Josh Beckett last week. Stan Kasten, the Dodgers' president and chief executive officer, said Thursday night that he fears Billingsley is done for the year. Kasten spoke at a fan discussion presented by the Los Angeles Times and moderated by columnist Bill Dwyre. In an interview later, Kasten said his comments were made out of concern and "not based on medical evidence." He said the Dodgers' search for pitching was not necessarily motivated by Billingsley's injury. "There has never been a team in the history of baseball that has not been looking for pitching," Kasten said. Citing inflammation in his right elbow, the Dodgers put Billingsley on the disabled list last Saturday, one day after he left a start because of the injury. In his six previous starts, he wa...

Mattingly calls team meeting following loss

Are they listening now? Are they? Is there actually reason to believe things with the Dodgers will be different after Manager Don Mattingly kept the clubhouse doors closed for approximately 15 minutes for a team meeting following Thursdays 2-0 loss to the Diamondbacks? Mattingly is not particularly fond of these things, but after watching his listless-looking team give away early...

A Primer on Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy and Why it’s the Hot Treatment with Pro Athletes

So as I was listening to the first part of the game tonight, I heard Vin mention that Chad Billingsley is having a form of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy to help his ailing elbow.  I happen to know a little about PRP, as I’m set to undergo the procedure myself in just under two weeks.  Important note: I am NOT a doctor…this is a layman’s assessment of PRP for the purposes...
