Chris Capuano has had a great week of pitching with two stellar performances within five days. Sunday’s start came on three days rest as he didn’t allow a run or a hit for the second straight outing to help the Los Angeles Dodgers grab a 3-1 win against the San Diego Padres behind two big homers from Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez. For the second straight day Gonzalez and Ramirez both hit solo homers. On this occasion it would be back-to-back in the top of the ninth off Padres closer Huston Street. Allowing the two homers in the ninth, Street has now given up eighth homers in nineteen innings at Petco Park this season. The Dodgers have not been big on getting hits in the clutch but Sunday was good enough. The game was scoreless until the seventh inning when Juan Uribe doubled to right field to knock in Gonzalez. This would be the only run Padres starter Andrew Cashner would surrender in his eight innings. Carlos Quentin would get that run back immediately in the bottom of the seventh taking Peter Moylan deep to tie the score at one. However, that would be all the Padres would get as the Dodgers bullpen shut the door from there. Capuano has been great since coming back from the DL throwing six scoreless innings on Wednesday against the New York Yankees, and five innings of shutout ball Sunday not allowing a walk in either start. The two starts totaled 11 innings with only seven hits and nine strikeouts. The Dodgers will be coming home on Monday to face the San Francisco Giants who are 5-1 against the Dodgers this year. Hyun-Jin Ryu (6-3, 2.96) will oppose Madison Bumgarner (7-4, 3.25)   WP: Brandon League (3-3) LP: Huston Street (0-4) S: Kenley Jansen (4)Tweet
