Don Mattingly has "managed" to get the team to play well in spite of a season full of distractions and injuries. Although the National League manager of the year voters will most likely be looking at the two guys running the Diamondbacks and Brewers, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Dodgers Don Mattingly get some love as well when the ballots are counted. The Dodgers were 10 games under .500 on June 30th and looked to be a mere shell of the team that won division titles in 2008 and 2009. The owner’s divorce, team bankruptcy, and injuries had some projecting the Dodgers would lose in the neighborhood of 90 games. The fact was no one viewed Don Mattingly as much more than a guy who held the title of field manager with a crumbling team.  Then something happened. Amazingly enough, since July 1st, the Dodgers are 36-27 and appear more than capable of finishing at or above .500.
