The Dodgers have signed righty reliever Mark Lowe to a minor-league deal with an invitation to Spring Training. Lowe provides further depth to an already deep bullpen corps. He was a solid strikeout man as recently as 2011, but has never been anything more than a back of the pen arm, with a career 4.10 FIP. —– The Dodgers are bringing Kevin Gregg in to camp on a minor-league deal with an invitation to Spring Training. I realize it’s just a minor-league invitation and Gregg is terrible so he’s not likely to beat out the likes of a Peter Moylan or the aforementioned Lowe, but the thought of Gregg taking up a roster spot with a K/9 IP rate that’s been declining for four years, a walk rate near five per nine, a FIP around five the last two years, and a negative fWAR in three of the last four years is nauseating. OY. VEY. He’s probably going to the make the team out of camp. Because really, it makes no sense that he should ever pitch in the majors again, let alone for a team with a deep relief corps, so … of course. ===== Greg Zakwin is the founder of the site Plaschke Thy Sweater Is Argyle. Happy birthday Kevin Stocker, former Phillies infielder

Today is Kevin Stocker's 42nd birthday. Drafted in 1991, Stocker made his major league debut with the Phillies in 1993 and what a doozy it was.
