Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel has no qualms about the ability of third baseman Placido Polanco.
Although Polanco is struggling in the National League Division Series, Manuel insists that the veteran is healthy enough to play despite a nagging sports hernia injury.
"If I didn't think that he was able to play, he wouldn't be in the lineup," Manuel said on Thursday. "But I think he definitely wants to play, and he's able to play. He's struggling right now, but at the same time, he might just come out (on Friday) and have a big day."
Polanco is just 2-for-16 in the NLDS against the St. Louis Cardinals. The series is tied at two contests apiece with the decisive fifth game on Friday at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
