Seattle Mariners starter Blake Beavan battled yet again on Monday night giving up 4 runs in 6 innings, striking out 4 and walking none. Prior to this start, Beavan had been on a roll winning 4 of his last 5 outings and only walking a whopping total of 2 batters in 34.1 innings, while striking out 24. His recent success was been tied to a retooling of mechanics and this appears to have instilled in Beavan a newfound sense of confidence that has enabled him to keep his pitch count low and allowing him to pitch deeper in to ball games.    During the 3rd inning in a scoreless ballgame on Monday night, the Rays managed to get to Beavan as they scratched 5 hits and pushed across 4 runs in the top half of the inning thanks to a home run off the bat of Rays OF B.J. Upton that just stayed fair down the left field line at Safeco Field, followed by an RBI double from Ben Zobrist.
