It's Always Sunny in Detroit:
Matt Kemp took some time out of his young offseason to appear on Ellen Thursday to support breast cancer awareness. He was given the chance to dunk one of his fans in a dunk tank. It took him four tries. But in fairness to him, he was throwing softballs. I'm thinking he just wanted the girl to sit on the perch a little longer. While she was no Rihanna, she could still stand under my umbrella. Lame, I know. It would have been great to see him charge a ball, crow hop and fire a strike.

Matt Kemp has won the Hank Aaron Award for Top Offensive Player In National League. Although the Dodgers 2011 season was largely a lost year, Matt Kemp has been truly amazing this season. The award is given to the top offensive performer in each league, and is voted on by a panel of Hall of Fame members plus the fans who vote online on MLB.com.

With the World Series underway, it’s time to look back at the season and decide who will be crowned with the Most Valuable Player Award. Lets take a look at the top 4 candidates.

Matt Kemp may not earn the National League "Most Valuable Player trophy and Clayton Kershaw may not be the N.L. Cy Young Award Winner (although they should be), the two Dodgers standouts have collected major awards from different media. That should make Dodgers Fans smile while attempting to chose between Rafael Furcal and Adrian Beltré as the current World Series continues.
I am a big Cole Hamels fan. He’s probably been the most consistent Phillies pitcher over the last 3 years, he’s the youngest ace, and he’s got an incredibly bright future. But…the Phillies are in win-right-now mode, as the core of Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Shane Victornio, etc., only have a couple more [...]

2005 Bowman's Best has a special place in my card collecting heart. Perhaps it's because both Matt Kemp and Russell Martin have cards in the set. Or maybe it stems from the fact that I own parallel versions of both of their cards. But it could also be the distinctly Spring Training feel and aspects that these rookie cards possess. So when I had the opportunity to add this...

Dodgers Clayton Kershaw and Matt Kemp are finalists for the 2011 Players Choice Awards, in which the players themselves recognize excellence on and off the field.
As a member of the BBA, and a contributor to Beyond the Box Score, I’ve taken part in a couple end-of-year award votes thus far. Here’s my NL ballot:
Matt Kemp: After a dismal showing in 2010, Kemp bounced back in remarkable fashion; in 161 games (he appeared in every single Dodgers game this year), he posted a .324/.399/.586 line and nearly joined the elusive 40/40 club...
