Miguel Batista, just recently called up and in his first MLB start as a Met, had a solid outing for his 100th career win. Batista went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits, walking three and striking out three. Batista gave up two of his walks and five of his hits in the first three innings. After that, Batista continued to coax weak contact, and overpower hitters with his 93 MPH fastball with movement. Just getting the definition of a quality start from a waiver-wire pick-up is a great thing.
Pedro Beato came out for the seventh, and pitched an inning, walking one and striking out one. Manny Acosta came out for the eighth, and had another great outing. D.J.
