On the heels of the news that Matt Kemp will be placed on the 15 Day Disabled List with shoulder pain comes news that Stephen Fife will be joining him there.
Fife, who has been serviceable for the Dodgers as a fifth starter this season, last pitched in Sunday’s 4-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants.
The listing of Fife on the DL allows the Dodgers to activate Ricky Nolasco to the 25 man roster. Chris Capuano, who had been demoted to the bullpen in the wake of the Nolasco trade, will now replace Fife in the rotation and pitch on Thursday night in Los Angeles.

There has been much debate over the course of the last few weeks whether Los Angeles Dodgers rookie Yasiel Puig belonged at the upcoming All-Star game in New York. Players, analysts and fans alike all chimed in voicing their support or stance against the selection. However, forget about the All-Star game this kid is making baseball history before your very eyes rewriting this record...
The Dodgers want Yasiel Puig to be an All-Star. Yasiel Puig wants Yasiel Puig to be an All-Star.
They are both desperate. This is the only reason I can think of that this plug happened. Regardless, I’ve never been more grateful for whatever string of awesome/terrible decision making led to this.
1) Puig can talk to animals.
2) Puig can do … things blindfolded.
3) Puig can...
Writing the Los Angeles Dodgers off in April (as some may have done) was probably a mistake, if for no other reason than it was so early in the schedule. There was so much more baseball to be played.
We also didn't know how the Dodgers' competition in the NL West would play. The Diamondbacks, Rockies and Giants had a chance to bury the Dodgers after they had dug such...
Following weeks of uncertainty, Ricky Nolasco was sent to the surging Dodgers over the weekend. He appears more than pleased with how everything played out.
Nolasco will try to come out strong in his Dodgers debut Tuesday night opposite Diamondbacks starter Ian Kennedy, who played a big role in last month's brawl between the two clubs.
After several teams showed interest in...
After weeks of speculation as to his eventual destination, Ricky Nolasco finally has a new home. The Los Angeles Dodgers have sent three prospects to the Miami Marlins in exchange for Nolasco and some international slot bonus money. The 30-year-old right-hander is 5-8 this year with a 3.85 ERA in 112 1/3 innings with the Marlins, and the Dodgers will assume the final $5.5 million...
PHOENIX -- The All-Star break -- baseball's unofficial halfway mark -- is still a week away, but Zack Greinke displayed Monday what is likely to be the difference down the stretch in a wide-open NL West race.
Greinke carved up the Diamondbacks lineup with seven shutout innings in a 6-1 Dodgers win, further supporting the premise that pitching will as usual be the decisive factor...
Ricky Nolasco looked right at home in Dodger blue.
The right-hander made a sparkling debut for surging Los Angeles on Tuesday night, limiting Arizona to four hits in seven innings in a 6-1 victory, the Dodgers' 14th win in 17 games.
"I was pretty pumped up," Nolasco said. "I haven't been that locked in in a long time. It worked out great. I was able to make...
A.J. Ellis hit a three-run double in the ninth inning, All-Star Clayton Kershaw made a third straight stellar start and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the slumping San Francisco Giants 4-1 on Sunday.
Kershaw (8-5), a candidate to start the All-Star game for the National League, wasn't as sharp as he'd been in his previous two starts but still only allowed one run over eight...
The Los Angeles Dodgers have one player on the NL All-Star team, and they have the possibility of getting a second player added to the squad. Both first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and outfielder Yasiel Puig are among the five finalists for the final spot. The other finalists in the fan vote are Washington Nationals shortstop [...]
PHOENIX -- Kirk Gibson sees a lot of his younger self in rambunctious, sometimes reckless Dodgers rookie Yasiel Puig.
"That's refreshing to watch," said Gibson, the Diamondbacks manager.
"Honestly, even from an opponent's point of view, that's refreshing."
Former Tigers manager Sparky Anderson once said Gibson played 150 percent at...
Now that I’ve returned from out west and Las Vegas; it’s a new obsession I’m drawn to. My next trip out west is going to be to Los Angeles and Dodger Stadium, so I can cross the number one item off my bucket list. I want to see where this went down.
When I get out there – and it will most likely be next summer – I want to go to two Dodgers games. I want to rent a car and...
With two wins this week for the red-hot Dodgers, Clayton Kershaw has helped the Boys in Blue claw out of the cellar, and he's not done yet.
PHOENIX -- Next up: the resumption of the Diamondbacks-Dodgers rivalry.
The teams will meet in a three-game series that starts Monday at Chase Field, 27 days after an on-field brawl that led to a 10-game suspension for Arizona starter Ian Kennedy and these parting words from Los Angeles reliever Ronald Belisario: "It's not over."
Suffice it to say the Diamondbacks...
Your browser does not support iframes. Yasiel Puig made a rookie mistake on Tuesday, and Miguel Montero taught the youngster a lesson. Puig ignored his third base coach when he tried to score from first on a fly ball to center by Adrian Gonzalez in the top of the 5th of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ [...]
