A.J. Ellis hit a three-run double in the ninth inning, All-Star Clayton Kershaw made a third straight stellar start and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the slumping San Francisco Giants 4-1 on Sunday. Kershaw (8-5), a candidate to start the All-Star game for the National League, wasn't as sharp as he'd been in his previous two starts but still only allowed one run over eight innings. He helped the Dodgers move into second place in the West heading into a three-game series with division-leading Arizona. Hanley Ramirez doubled and tripled to extend his career-high hitting streak to 18 games while rookie Yasiel Puig added two hits, including a single that started the rally in the ninth. Guillermo Quiroz doubled and scored for San Francisco, which has dropped 11 of 13. Kershaw and Giants starter Chad Gaudin engaged in a tight duel, with Gaudin working seven innings. Puig singled off Giants closer Sergio Romo (3-4) to open the ninth. Adrian Gonzalez followed with a sharp single...

Dodgers have released the best/worst Yasiel Puig All-Star plug ever

The Dodgers want Yasiel Puig to be an All-Star. Yasiel Puig wants Yasiel Puig to be an All-Star. They are both desperate. This is the only reason I can think of that this plug happened. Regardless, I’ve never been more grateful for whatever string of awesome/terrible decision making led to this. 1) Puig can talk to animals. 2) Puig can do … things blindfolded. 3) Puig can...

At best, he’s a fifth outfielder-type, but being able to play center field is an advantage for...

Dodgers trade Steven Ames, Josh Wall, Angel Sanchez for Ricky Nolasco

After an extended rumored pursuit of the right-handed pitcher, the Dodgers landed Ricky Nolasco from the Marlins in a trade for Steven Ames, Josh Wall, and Angel Sanchez, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The Dodgers are paying Nolasco’s salary as well. In exchange for a #4 starter in the rotation and extending the reserve of reliable starters to at least six, the Dodgers...

Official: Dodgers trade Ames, Sanchez, and Wall for Ricky Nolasco

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially acquired starting right-hander Ricky Nolasco from the Miami Marlins for right-handers Josh Wall, Steven Ames and Angel Sanchez. D-backs send Kennedy against Nolasco, Dodgers

Following weeks of uncertainty, Ricky Nolasco was sent to the surging Dodgers over the weekend. He appears more than pleased with how everything played out. Nolasco will try to come out strong in his Dodgers debut Tuesday night opposite Diamondbacks starter Ian Kennedy, who played a big role in last month's brawl between the two clubs. After several teams showed interest in... Player of the Week: Clayton Kershaw

With two wins this week for the red-hot Dodgers, Clayton Kershaw has helped the Boys in Blue claw out of the cellar, and he's not done yet.

Greinke shows D-backs pitching will be paramount

PHOENIX -- The All-Star break -- baseball's unofficial halfway mark -- is still a week away, but Zack Greinke displayed Monday what is likely to be the difference down the stretch in a wide-open NL West race. Greinke carved up the Diamondbacks lineup with seven shutout innings in a 6-1 Dodgers win, further supporting the premise that pitching will as usual be the decisive factor...

Adrian Gonzalez wants Yasiel Puig to win NL All-Star fan vote

The Los Angeles Dodgers have one player on the NL All-Star team, and they have the possibility of getting a second player added to the squad. Both first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and outfielder Yasiel Puig are among the five finalists for the final spot. The other finalists in the fan vote are Washington Nationals shortstop [...]

D-backs' Gibson, Dodgers' Puig peas in a pod

PHOENIX -- Kirk Gibson sees a lot of his younger self in rambunctious, sometimes reckless Dodgers rookie Yasiel Puig. He approves. "That's refreshing to watch," said Gibson, the Diamondbacks manager. "Honestly, even from an opponent's point of view, that's refreshing." Former Tigers manager Sparky Anderson once said Gibson played 150 percent at...

I can’t stop thinking about getting to Dodger Stadium & Los Angeles

Now that I’ve returned from out west and Las Vegas; it’s a new obsession I’m drawn to. My next trip out west is going to be to Los Angeles and Dodger Stadium, so I can cross the number one item off my bucket list. I want to see where this went down. When I get out there – and it will most likely be next summer – I want to go to two Dodgers games. I want to rent a car and...

Montero sets tone for D-backs' upcoming series with Dodgers

PHOENIX -- Next up: the resumption of the Diamondbacks-Dodgers rivalry. The teams will meet in a three-game series that starts Monday at Chase Field, 27 days after an on-field brawl that led to a 10-game suspension for Arizona starter Ian Kennedy and these parting words from Los Angeles reliever Ronald Belisario: "It's not over." Suffice it to say the Diamondbacks...

One for Juan: Dodgers 10, Giants 2. THE BLOG AT AT&T PARK TODAY!

Juan Uribe was 3-for-5 with a home run, a triple, a double, and 7 RBIs in the Dodgers’ 10-2 win over the Giants on Friday night. Without a doubt, this was Uribe’s best offensive performance of his Dodgers career. (Image Source: USA Today.) What a San Francisco treat last night was!  The Blog likes nothing more than touching down on the Penninsula, going out to dinner with the...

Bruce Bochy changing mind about Yasiel Puig?

Last week, Bruce Bochy was quoting in saying that he didn't believe emerging Los Angeles Dodgers rookie superstar Yasiel Puig deserved a place on the National League All-Star team. This was potentially detrimental to Puig's All-Star hopes considering the fact that Bochy will manage the National League squad later this month in the All-Star Game."Generally, guys that...

Madison Bumgarner Shuts Down the Streaking Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a trade during Saturday night’s game with the Miami Marlins for starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco. The game itself did not go their way as Madison Bumgarner was able to hold the Dodgers to two runs in a 4-2 win for the San Francisco Giants. Coming into the game the Dodgers had five straight games in which they had ten or more hits. Bumgarner would...

Giants Surrender Late Runs to Dodgers to Lose Game, Series

If the Giants are going to salvage their rapidly sinking 2013 season, they’re going to have to start winning just about every series. They knew going into Sunday’s game that accomplishing that task against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers was going to be difficult. Unfortunately, Kershaw, as he has in so many starts against the Giants over the years, proved a near-impossible nut...
