Found August 12, 2013 on Padres Public:
After some computer issues delayed things last week on my end and Mike “no work computer good”, Melvin stepped up and edited the podcast like a boss. In this episode we discuss the many nicknames of Chris Denorfia, our expectations of the Padres going forward, steroid talk and discuss our Ben Higgins interview (that will be posted this week, as I plan on getting a new computer today). If you have any questions or comments, go ahead and leave them down below or e-mail us.   We also have an RSS feed that you can subscribe to and are on Itunes as well!   Check out our page at Vimeo where you can watch every single episode of Padres and Pints in one easy to view spot. Also give us a follow on Twitter @PadresandPints for random comments about beer and baseball and give us a like on Facebook where you can see tons of behind the scenes photos.

Haikuarrhea: Week 19 in Padres Baseball

In an effort to stay close to our roots, the staff at Padres Public, will offer-up a haiku each Monday to describe the previous week in Padres Baseball. Restricting our feelings to 3 lines and 17 syllables to describe a week of play is a massive undertaking, but (un) fortunately, we are more than up to the task. The Padres were swept by the Orioles in a short 2 game set at Petco...

Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-11-13

3 different farm teams enjoyed 1-run victories tonight. Hunter Renfroe and Gabriel Quintana provided a solid 1-2 punch in the middle of the TinCap lineup. Renfroe had 2 hits, including a home run, while Quintana was a perfect 4-4 in the TinCaps’ 4-3 victory. Starter Johnny Barbato and Payton Baskette dominated for the Storm and the AZL Padres, respectively. Hitting Prospect of...

Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-10-13

For the second night in a row the TinCaps were the only team to lose down on the farm. Despite the losing effort, Hunter Renfroe still played very well in his Fort Wayne debut. Both the Emeralds and the Storm enjoyed walk-off victories while the T-Pads won 6-2 due to a strong start from Keyvius Sampson and a great offensive performance from Reymond Fuentes. Hitting Prospect of the...

Maybin's rehab in Tucson halted by pain

Cameron Maybin’s rehab assignment with Triple-A Tucson has been temporarily stopped. “Technically we pulled him off the rehab to give his knee a few days to calm down” Padres general manager Josh Byrnes said Monday. Maybin hasn’t appeared in a game for Tucson since last Thursday when he came out after two at-bats. He had played in only five of a possible 11 games when he...

While You Were Drinking: Game 118 (SD vs. COL)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking. Last night the Padres were thrashed 14-2 by the Rockies at Coors Field. You might think that you missed absolutely nothing but that’s not entirely true. It rained during the game and prior to a 1 hour rain delay in the 8th inning, viewers...

Padres Memorable Moments – Recap

Friday night the Ted Williams (San Diego) Chapter of SABR hosted the Padres Memorable Moments event at the Scripps Ranch Library.  As you may remember from reading about it here and here, Bob Chandler was to call the memorable moments in the old-style of sound effects and ticker tape. In the library auditorium a stage was set up. On the left was a desk with all the special effects...

Since the Diamondbacks quit on their fans, Ian Kennedy has impressed as a San Diego Padre

Although receiving a no-decision, San Diego Padres pitcher Ian Kennedy continued to impress Sunday in a 3-2 loss against the Reds in Cincinnati. Yielding only two runs over eight innings, the 28-year-old Kennedy (4-8, 5.14 ERA) stifled Cincinnati’s powerful lineup. In a remarkably poor decision, the Arizona Diamondbacks traded Kennedy to San Diego last month in exchange for Joe...

While You Were Drinking: Game 117 (SD vs CIN)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking. The Padres lost 3-2 in in 13 innings, after stranding 15 base runners while going 1 for 17 with RISP. In short, the offense blew. Ian Kennedy threw another gem, making only one mistake that pinch-hitter Xavier Paul turned into a 2-run home...

Daily Friar 8.13.13

The Padres lost a laugher last night. The game quickly got out of hand as Edinson Volquez couldn’t pitch yet again in Coors Field. This will be good to know for the Rockies once Volquez becomes a free agent. He gave up five early runs and that was enough for the Rockies to win. He left the game in the fifth inning after allowing eight runs, all of them earned. ON SALE NOW! Things...

Taking The Blame

First things first: I’m sorry for ruining the season. Six weeks ago I wrote about the Padres being buyers at the trade deadline, and they didn’t win a game for over a week. Two weeks ago, I wrote about how relatively durable Carlos Quentin had been this season, and how keeping him could end up paying dividends going forward. Quentin subsequently missed that night’s game, hasn’t...

Padres 7, Rockies 5

The Colorado Rockies came out swinging and put San Diego in an early deficit. Unlike Monday, the Padres answered the challenge. Nick Hundley homered and drove in two runs, Will Venable had three hits, and San Diego rallied to beat the Rockies 7-5 on Tuesday night. Jedd Gyorko also went deep for the second straight night for the Padres, who rebounded from a 14-2 loss to the Rockies...

Daily Friar 8.12.13

The Padres offense was absolutely dreadful yesterday. There really is no way to sugar coat this one and friends I would rather you hear the cold hard truth then to be smothered in lies. They had plenty of times to win the game but failed to do so as the one hit with runners in scoring position eluded them all day. Ian Kennedy pitched a heck of a game and made one mistake pitch that...

New Digital Sketch: The Double-Nickel

Finally drew one today of our beloved Mark “Mudcat” Grant. This picture is from a combination of a few photos I found of Grant pitching for the Padres. I used both the 6B and graphite shader brushes on procreate app for iPad. Really happy to get a drawing in my portfolio of number 55. He’s an all-time fave of mine.
