Huston Street was the best closer in baseball until his injury.  However, he's now been out since August 10th.  On the final out against the Pirates on that day, Street strained his calf covering first.  He has not tested the calf by running, but Corey Brock of MLB.com reports Street will throw a simulated game on Monday.
Sounds like #Padres closer Huston Street will throw a simulated game on Monday. He still hasn't tested left calf by running on it.

Street has a 0.75 ERA this season in 37 games.  He has 21 saves on the season.  Street was the Padres' lone All-Star representative this summer.  This is his first season in San Diego after spending the past three years in Colorado.

In his career, Street has a 2.93 ERA.  His next save will be his 200th.  The Padres and Street hope that save will come this season, but if it doesn't, it's still a virtual lock that it will come with the Padres.  San Diego recently extended the 29-year old closer's contract for another two seasons, with a team option for a third year.

San Diego has struggled with injuries this year, but they have overcome them of late and played solid baseball.  Since August 1st, the Padres are 21-13.

Appreciating Chase Headley's Season

In fact, Padre fans have rarely seen a player get this hot and turn in a season as good as Chase’s 2012.First, the details. Chase Headley is currently on pace for a 30 HR, 113 RBI season with a 284/369/485 slash line. He was the NL player of the month for August and...

Padres Keep It Rolling With Another Series Win Over Arizona.

Play the best baseball in the National League since the All-Star Break, the San Diego Padres won for the fifth time in their last six series played, defeating the Diamondbacks on Friday and Sunday at Petco Park. Chase Headley continued his torrid pace with a pair of homers on Friday, the second a go-ahead shot in the bottom of the eighth, followed by a Grand Slam on Sunday. His eight...

D-backs lose rubber match, series to Padres

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Chase Headley hit a grand slam to extend his career-bests to 27 homers and an NL-high 102 RBIs, and Carlos Quentin followed with a homer for San Diego's first back-to-back shots this season as the Padres beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-2 Sunday. Batting left-handed, Headley continued his breakout season when he drove a 0-1 pitch from Takashi Saito several rows...

Maybin, Venable help Padres beat Cardinals

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Cameron Maybin hit a two-run homer, Will Venable had three RBIs and the San Diego Padres handed the struggling St. Louis Cardinals an 11-3 loss on Monday night. The loss dropped the Cardinals 9 1-2 games behind first-place Cincinnati in the NL Central. Daily Friar 9.10.12

We knew it was only a matter of time before Chase Headley was going to hit and surpass the 100 RBI mark for the season. Well yesterday he certainly did just that in “grand” fashion. The first article below will explain everything, but the Reader’s Digest version is that Chase hit a grand slam to push his home run total to 27 and his RBI total to 102. This now passes Ryan Braun...

Daily Friar 9.9.12

I was hoping that the Padres would be able to pull off the sweep. However, if they were to lose one game this series it would have been this one. Let's face it, ever since Casey Kelly's debut he's been awful. Also we had to face Wade Miley who has been doing awesome for the Diamondbacks in his rookie season. If I had to vote for rookie of the year right now I would probably...

Padres 8, Diamondbacks 2

Chase Headley hit a grand slam to extend his career-bests to 27 homers and an NL-high 102 RBIs, and Carlos Quentin followed with a homer for San Diego's first back-to-back shots this season as the Padres beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-2 Sunday. Batting left-handed, Headley continued his breakout season when he drove a 0-1 pitch from Takashi Saito several rows into the right...

Daily Farm Round-Up: 9-9-12

After a disappointing start by Erik Cabrera, the TinCaps were never able to fully rebound and ended up losing game 2 to Lake County. Despite the poor start, The TinCap bullpen was able to finish the game well and threw a combined 4.2 innings while only allowing 1 run. The TinCaps and Captains will conclude the series tomorrow as the winner will advance further into the playoffs.Hitting...

Padres 11, Cardinals 3

Cameron Maybin hit a two-run homer, Will Venable had three RBIs and the San Diego Padres handed the struggling St. Louis Cardinals an 11-3 loss on Monday night. St. Louis, which has lost four of five, had its lead cut to one game over the idle Los Angeles Dodgers for the second NL wild-card...

Daily Farm Round-Up: 9-10-12

The TinCaps advance in the playoffs off the strength of 15 hits and 3 home runs. Yet again, the bullpen played a crucial role in tonight’s game as the starter, James Needy, didn’t make it through 3 innings. Besides a rocky outing for Dennis O’Grady, the TinCaps pen shut the Captains down, and only allowed 4 hits and struck out 4 over 4 innings. Hitting Prospect of the Day:...

Daily Farm Round-Up: 9-8-12

The TinCaps beat the Captains in dramatic fashion. With the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 8th, Travis Jankowski extended his hitting streak to 20 games and led the inning off with a double. After a sacrifice bunt by Jace Peterson, Yeison Asencio drove in the go ahead run and the TinCaps eventually won 4-3.Hitting Prospect of the Day: Yeison AsencioPitching Prospect of the Day...

Daily Friar 9.8.12

Chase Headley is the savior of this team. I know I'm stating obvious facts here, but he is just on a tear right now in the latter half of the season. After the game last night the post game show was talking about his numbers from all of August compared to his numbers in the first 6 games of September. His September is on pace to be even better than his August, which he won the...
