Found March 08, 2012 on It's Always Sunny in Detroit:

Despite hitting for a .338 batting average and adding eight dingers for the San Diego Padres Single-A affiliate the Fort Wayne TinCaps, the odds are highly stacked against reaching the Show. But, Connor sure put on an unusual show in this trick shot video produced by his buddy Jack Cascio.

When you think trick shot videos, you probably think about the old Larry Bird-Michael Jordan McDonald's "off the scoreboard, off the rafters, nothing but net" commercial. Or maybe you think of a kid throwing a football at targets. But this one makes those two look amateurish.

Powers appears to use special, uh Powers, to hit a baseball at targets...with a bat. It's pretty unreal. The critics out there will say "yeah, but he probably spent all day filming this." And it may have taken a while, but it doesn't take away from the degree of difficulty.

2012 Padres Organizational Depth: Catcher

Prior to the emergence of 2005 draftee, Nick Hundley, catcher was an organizational weakness for the Padres. However, over the last 3-4 seasons, the Padres have realized that organizational deficiency and done their best to rectify it. This desire to improve the catching talent within the organization began under former GM Kevin Towers (drafting several catchers, but, on this list...

Top 5 first basemen in Padres History

To get ready for the 2012 season we’ll be looking at the top five players in Padre history at each position. The first rule: we will only consider the players’ time with the Padres, so Mike Piazza doesn’t count because he was only here for 1 year. I have set a completely arbitrary minimum of 200 games with the Padres. The other rule: players will be considered for their primary...

Padres CEO Moorad withdraws ownership application

San Diego Padres CEO Jeff Moorad has withdrawn his application to baseball to finalize his purchase of the club. The Padres announced Friday the move was to ''expedite approval of the team's television broadcasting agreement.'' Moorad's group owns 49 percent of the Padres and was set to buy the remainder from majority owners John Moores. In January, baseball...

Padres' Venable takes issue with Darvish

Not everyone was enamored with Yu Darvish's debut on Wednesday. Especially one of the two men to get a hit off the Japanese phenom during his first start of spring training, San Diego Padres outfielder Will Venable. During the post-game press conference, Darvish said that he thought the conditions aided the two hits that he gave up in two innings. "With the dry air in...

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- San Diego Padres left-hander Clayton Richard made his first appearance since July 4 in Friday's 6-3 win over Los Angeles in front of 9,562 fans -- the Angels' first home sellout. "It seems like it's been a real long time since I've been out there so it's nice to make it to this point," said Richard, who allowed a run on two hits...

Daily Friar 3.7.12

It's a big day for the Padres. Everybody will most likely see at least a little playing time today, as they are playing two split squad games. Half of the team will be on the road playing the Reds, and the other half will stay home to take on the Rangers. The big news of the day in the eyes of everybody on a band wagon is that Yu Darvish is making his debut in Peoria. The nice...

Dacker, Clark homer to lead Padres over Angels 6-3

Jaff Dacker and Matt Clark each hit a solo homer during a three-run seventh inning to lead the San Diego Padres to a 6-3 win over Los Angeles in front of 9,562 fans - the Angels' first home sellout of the spring. Angels slugger Albert Pujols gave many of the fans their money's worth with two hits in two at-bats with a sacrifice fly and an RBI. He narrowly missed a homer...

Daily Friar 3.9.12

The never ending Jeff Moorad saga has taken a new turn over night. And once again it is never ending, however in this case I think it's the right move. It was no secret that the Fox TV deal wasn't going to be approved until Moorad's purchase of the team was approved. And seeing that he tried to speed up the process MLB was wary of everything that was going on. So now...

Madison Bumgarner struck out five in three shutout innings in his first start of spring training and the San Francisco Giants beat the San Diego Padres 5-2 Thursday. Edinson Volquez, also making his spring debut, pitched through a case of nerves and allowed a run in two innings. Volquez was pitching for the first time in a Padres uniform since being acquired in a Dec. 17 trade with...
