The Philadelphia Phillies have placed All-Star third baseman Placido Polanco on the disabled list, this time due to his sports hernia. Polanco has not placed since August 5, so he will be eligible to return from the DL this coming Monday.
He is hitting .275 on the season, although he has not played for seven consecutive games. Polanco officially has a sports hernia, although he says he will play through it and not undergo what would assuredly be season-ending surgery.
