MLB Injury News:
The Philadelphia Phillies were initially hoping to have outfielder Domonic Brown back from his concussion in a few games, but the injury continues to linger. At this point, it doesn't look like Brown is nearing a return from the seven-day concussion disabled list, as manager Charlie Manuel told reporters -- including Todd Zolecki of MLB.com -- that the slugger is at least another week away from rejoining the team.
"It's going to be a little while. I think it's probably
going to be another week," manager Charlie Manuel said.
Brown is slated to undergo further concussion testing today. He suffered the injury while diving for a fly ball during last Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. He's been away from the team over the past few days as he continues to rest and rehab his head injury.
Brown's injury is just another blow during what's become an increasingly long season for Philadelphia and its fans. At times it's looked as though the Phillies could potentially contend in the National League East, but they've stumbled out of the second-half gate. Brown was one of the largest reasons for the limited amount of success the team has had, as the 25-year-old has hit .271/.316/.531 with 17 doubles, four triples and 24 home runs over 402 plate appearances.

Third baseman Cody Asche has been on a torrid pace of late. Asche, a University of Nebraska product, is showing more and more that he’s ready for a bigger challenge. The 23-year-old lefty batter has gone 14-for-33 (.424 avg) along with three doubles, five homers and 12 RBI in his last eight contests with the IronPigs.
Overall this season, Asche, who...
Ethan Martin, brought to Philadelphia in the Shane Victorino-to-LA trade last summer, will make his major league debut on Friday against the Atlanta Braves. Martin was named the #3 prospect in the Phillies organization prior to the 2013 season by our minor league expert, Jay Floyd.
Martin, 24, has had a solid year at Lehigh Valley going 11-5 with a 4.12 ERA in 21 starts. In 115...
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says that the Yankees offered a decent deal for Michael Young, but Ruben Amaro shot it down.
Yankees GM Brian Cashman and Phillies GM Ruben Amaro spoke on the phone around 3 p.m. ET Wednesday, an hour before the trade deadline, at which time Amaro confirmed what the Yankees had been reading in the media: Michael Young was willing to waive...
The Philadelphia Phillies have announced three names that are definitely off the trade market in Domonic Brown, Chase Utley, and Cole Hamels. However, the rumored Michael Young could get traded later on Tuesday as Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Pasan has indicated.

Although uncertain, Philadelphia Phillies ace Cliff Lee could miss his start on Friday, August 2, against the Atlanta Braves. MLB.com's Stephen Pianovich reports that Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr., has not yet decided if Lee will pitch on Friday due to Lee's stiff neck.
Lee missed his last scheduled start against the Detroit Tigers on July 26 with the neck...
Now that Jake Peavy and Matt Garza have found new homes, Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee is far-and-away the top starting pitcher remaining on the trade market. However, it sounds like Lee may not be going anywhere, as Jim Bowden of ESPN reports that the southpaw is not going to be traded today.
Cliff Lee is not getting traded today according to #source
We will always have the dropped fly ball. The Phillies will make room for third baseman Cody Asche by designating for assignment outfielder Steve Susdorf. Susdorf was 1 for 7 and started one game for the Phillies. Plenty of parts are on the move, but for now it appears Michael...
24 hours remain for teams to sell, buy and trade their players in an effort to either clear house or improve their roster for a play off run. The Phillies are definite sellers this July 31st, but so far have not made a fire sale. Unlike last year when the...
The Philadelphia Phillies have one day to decide their future. Michael Young, Chase Utley, Jonathan Papelbon, Cliff Lee and Carlos Ruiz are veterans, leaders, gold glovers, silver sluggers, clutch performers, world champions and cy youngers. But now, they are trade bait. This final day could bring a new era into Phillies baseball, or it could [...]
The Red Sox are reportedly looking to add a starting pitcher before Wednesday’s MLB trade deadline passes, and one of the names that they’re supposedly interested in is Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee. And while the Phils are open to parting ways with Lee, a former Cy Young winner, they’re reportedly not willing to do so without receiving a valuable young piece in return.
There’s some major news out of Philadelphia today. Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports says reported that the Phillies have called up Cody Asche from the minor leagues, which would preclude a trade of Michael Young. The report has since been confirmed by Todd Zolecki.
The New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox were the teams showing the most interest...

^ This is what failure looks like. Cole Hamels pitched eight great innings, but it was not enough as the San Fransisco Giants rallied for two runs in the ninth to stun the Phillies Thursday night in Philly's 2-1 loss. Hamels (4-13) and opposing starter Matt Cain (7-6) both came...
