Phillies Left-hander Cliff Lee gets first home win in nearly a year.

It feels good to win! Sunday, the Phillies completed their sweep of the first place Washington Nationals and also ended the home losing streak of Cliff Lee. Lee who pitched solid the entire game also knocked in the game’s first run. By the seventh inning you could feel Lee’s first home win in nearly a year coming when Adam LaRoche’s bomb came down, bounced off the railing and back onto the field. LaRoche was caught between second and third and was thrown out. As they say the rest is history, the bullpen finished the job with Lindblom pitching two innings for the save.

The Phillies who are still behind 5 teams for the wild-card showed some life and passion during their series with Washington. The Phillies are now 9.5 games back in the wild-card standings with 34 games to go. Is it possible for the Phillies to continue with the same intensity and possibly steal a wild-card spot? Can you imagine how that would be written in Philadelphia Sports history books?Similar Posts:
