Clayton Kershaw was absolutely dominant yet again in 2012 and had it not been for R.A. Dickey‘s amazing season, Kershaw would have back-to-back Cy Young awards.He posted his fourth consecutive sub-3.00 ERA season and kept his walk rate down for the second straight year, helping him post a 1.02 WHIP. The hard-throwing lefty succeeds by inducing weak contact as he has four straight years with a .275 or worse BABIP, which makes him among the best in the league in opponent’s batting average (.208 BAA in last four years).He’s also among the best at inducing swinging strikes (11.0% last year) and induces a lot of pop-ups (career 12.5%), which means batters don’t normally get good wood on his pitches.
